Chapter 74. Null an void

As said, Patrick called the servant and handed him the contract. He instructed him to have it verified with much scrutiny as possible. Patrick did not want to make any mistakes, his time was running out.

They all sat in silence while waiting. The servants brought in a large chocolate cake and a pot of jasmine tea. Lady Francesca  dug into the decedant mouth watering chocolate cake, curring a large slice and placing it in her saucer. After the events she had witnessed, she realised she hadn't eaten much for dinner and was rather famished.

She forked mouthfuls of cake greedily sucking the tip of the fork like a savage rat. Her husband watched in silence, staring holes into her, hoping she would realise her actions.

She smiled at him while taking another large bite. The excitement in her belly was far too great for her to care what her in-laws thought at this moment. 

Patrick was clearly disgusted and tapped his wrinkled fingers impatiently on the
