Chapter 13 Clubbing

Even though I managed to flee the wretched fate my mother wanted, it seems I can't escape what the universe has destined me to marry someone I don't know.

I don't even know what love is. At a young age, all I think is how to get out of poverty. That's it.

Looking at myself blandly wearing this white wedding dress in the mirror, I felt like I was already dead, losing my purpose.

Would I rather be dead? Perhaps things would turn easy. This isn't a wedding but a funeral—my early burial.

"Daphne." A knock on the door, calling out my name, made me turn. It was Cara with a broad smile that flashed over her face.

Suddenly, her presence brushed off what was on my mind just earlier.

"You ready?" I nodded, standing up from my seat and holding up both sides of my huge dress.

WALKING on the aisle as the music lingered through my ears, I couldn't help but cry inside. What did I do to deserve this kind of punishment?
