AWAITING MIRACLE-CHAPTER FIFTY THREE

I chased after him and blocked his way.

"Wait!" I said.

"Why? It's obvious you have a lot going on," he replied, looking jealous.

"I thought we agreed to just be friends."

"Yes, I know. But I can't seem to handle it. You know how I feel about you."

"But we come from different worlds. Your parents would never approve of me. You're superior in every way and you deserve someone who matches your level."

"It's been difficult letting you go. But it seems like you've moved on."

"We haven't made a decision yet," I informed him.

"I hope he treats you well."

I paused and asked why he had come. "I came to bring you dinner that my maid prepared. I was worried you might skip dinner," he said, handing me the mini lunch bag, which I gratefully accepted.

"Thanks," I whispered.

"I'll leave now and I promise not to show up unannounced," he teased, and we both chuckled.

"I'll call you," I promised as he left.

I returned to find Christian still waiting where I left him, much to my surprise.
