POTATOES, APPLES, TURNIPS AND A BIT OF THUNDER

Potatoes. Apples. Turnips.

These words kept circling through Hagne's head, she let them to. The last thing she wanted to dwell on was her family's impending doom. She was being pessimistic, but she couldn't help it. No one who got caught by the centurion actually escaped.

Potatoes. Apples. Turnips.

Hagne couldn't sleep. Even after she had exhausted herself with tears, her eyes still wouldn't shut. She had been staring at the ceiling for more than twenty minutes as if a miracle would just suddenly appear. She couldn't find it in her to pray, her spirituality had long since disappeared. Even if she prayed, she felt like God will not answer her. She had been ignoring him for over a year now so why will he?

Potatoes. Apples. Turnips.

She wondered what her children were doing, especially Fia. She had frightened the little girl but she had no choice, she just hoped that the girl was sound asleep and not crying hysterically like she was.
