I opened my eyes when a desperate cry came to me from the baby monitor. I rubbed my eyes and grabbed my phone. It was 3:00 in the morning. It had been a little over an hour since she woke up. 

I sat on the bed and I turned to Maya. She slept blissfully with just my shirt on, she was standing next to me and holding the blanket in her hands. I sighed and got up and went to Ali’s room.

When I came in, my eardrums were completely pierced by her crying. I hurried to pick her up, to keep Axel from waking up.

As soon as I picked her up, Ali stopped screaming and looked at me with her blue eyes still full of tears as I swayed slowly with her in my arms. I bent down to give her a gentle kiss on the forehead and then I looked at her.

"What’s wrong with you this time?" I said softly, "I changed you an hour ago, so it can’t be the diaper. Maybe you’re hungry?" I asked her again how she could answer.
