Maya

Nate came back after a few minutes with a tray of steaming plates. I sat down again as he approached the bed and placed the tray in the middle, before sitting carefully.

He took a cloth napkin and put it in my pajama shirt, in the same way, you do with a child. I looked at him grimly but he laughed and took the dish with the broth and gave it to me with the utmost attention.

I began to eat slowly, letting the hot liquid warm my body that continued to be run by chills of cold.

Nate looked at me with circumspection as he took the container with the takeout food he had brought with him and began to eat.

I didn't eat in the whole day, so I completely devoured the broth and threw myself back on the bed, leaving my body uncovered as I continued to tremble.

Nate put the tray on the bedside table and covered my chin with a blanket.

"Four hours and eight hours," Nate said to himself.
