I couldn’t hide the smile on my face as Pietro held me gently, his hand softly placed behind my back as if I were a fragile doll as he guided me through the dance floor.

I had been invited to many different parties and been to night parties, each offering different types of dances to liven up the party.

However, I had never danced with any man before. It isn’t because I’m saving my first dance for Pietro – partly, yes, but it’s also because I found the whole thing to be so intimate.

Imagine dancing with a man as he held you closely like this, a mere breath away from each other. It isn’t something that I’d find myself doing.

I don’t know why people like it and engage in doing it even with complete strangers as partners. To me, wouldn’t that feel utterly uncomfortable and awkward?

I always wondered what they liked about it, the intimate touching with your faces just inches away from each other, not until I experienced it myself as I danced with Pietro.
