Lin stared at Hunter with dull eyes, not even a bit impressed by his act. “You don’t have to bring my parents into this, I will forgive you for leaving me.”Again, she understood why he left, that was why it was easier to forgive him and let it go.And considering that he was on the quest to win and not be a therapist or her boyfriend, she truly understood.Hunter wiped the tears from his eyes and stared at the she-wolf. At that very moment, he was contemplating whether to even still tell her or not.It was something that his father had warned him about, no, threatened him about; not to tell another soul. The councilman had told Hunter that if he ever tried to tell anyone about what they did to Lin’s parents, it would be sure death for him.No mercy at all.So he was a bit tentative about telling this. “Lin, just listen, okay?” He sniffled and wiped the tears from his eyes. Yes, what he had done burdened him and made him feel like crap every day of his life but to be honest, he would
Closure. A word that have been hanging over the head of Lin for a while now.She had wanted closure for what her boyfriend had done to her. She had wanted closure for why she did not have her wolf back then. And she had also wanted closure to why and exactly how her parents had died. And you know what? Closure does not make it better. She thought it did, she believed that knowing would help ease some of the pain but the truth is that all it did was make her hurt even more.Ignorance is bliss, she had heard people say. And no, she did not believe in that saying and thought it was crappy, but now, it was starting to grow on her.She wished that she was still ignorant, but now it was way too late. What was she going to do with all the rage and anger that just kept building up in her?“Hunter, you have a minute to tell me what you did to my parents,” she said to him in a tone that was both harsh yet calm. Her emotions were all over the place and she hated that her eyes kept producing tear
Lin was pushing away and trying not to give in to Hunter trying to be there for her. She appreciated that he cared and wanted to comfort her but she was just so hurt. She hated that she had been so trusting and had allowed herself to be played easily every single time.It was again the same with her boyfriend, she trusted him so much and it all ended up backfiring at her. Now, it was with Hunter. She had trusted him so fast and easily, forgetting to know that she had not even known the guy for more than a month yet.“Lin, stop fighting me and just please…please surrender,” Hunter said to her.She kept pushing him away though…well, until she could no longer do so. She ended up giving in and breaking down in he strong and defined chest of the guy.Tears freely fell from her eyes as she sobbed. It really hurt her. And she did not know what to do. After a few minutes of crying and hitting Hunter, Lin pulled away, her head pounding due to a headache. Her heart was beating faster than norm
Lin could feel her heart drop. She knew who was speaking and when she looked at Hunter, from the look she saw on his face, it was obvious that he knew who it was too.“Come on, don’t stop the fun now, I was enjoying the show!” The Reaper walked out of the shadows and smirked. He was back to talk with the she-wolf for what they had previously discussed. It had not been twenty four hours yet but he did not care nor was he going to let her know that. “Lin, stay back.” Hunter tried to protect the she-wolf, stepping forward and getting ready to shift even though he knew that he would be no match for the guy.“No, let me handle this,” Lin replied boldly, stepping away from him. The Reaper chuckled under his breath, amused by the exchange. “We have unfinished business, she-wolf,” he began, walking close to her.Hunter was on alert, making sure he was ready to defend himself and the she-wolf of the need arose.“I know my time is up,” Lin said as she swallowed the fear that had taken over h
It had stopped raining and the strong wind had ceased. That did not mean it was not cold though, the chill was evident in the cave and there were a few wild animals that could be heard.Lin was sitting in the corner of the cave, her eyes tired from crying so much and her body feeling like she had run a marathon. She did not know what to do, honestly. First, she choosing to remain in the quest only put her own life at risk. But now it was different. Now, the life of Hunter also was at risk. And as much as a part of her wanted him to die as karma for what he had done to her parents, a bigger part of her wanted the opposite.Funny enough, she did not hate the guy. She somehow understood why he did it. But it still did not give him the right though.Hunter killing her parents was something that Lin was never going to forget, but it was something that she could maybe try to forgive him for.It was going to take a while, but at least the possibility of forgiveness was on the table.Going ba
Lin was having a very bad anxiety attack, her heart was thundering and she could not breathe. She thought she was going to die but then it all vanished from her vision. She could no longer see Hunter, her dead mom, or her dead father. She was back in the thick darkness that even her low-light vision could not penetrate. Her throat opened up and she took in a very deep breath, feeling a sense of relief. She continued to take in deep breaths as she gained her composure. Her heart was still racing and adrenaline still coursed through her veins but it was all dwindling down by the seconds passing by. She started to cough, standing to her feet as she did. When she was up, her coughing fit cooled and she looked around, her breathing still heavy, as she tried to figure out what the hell had just happened. Then a voice spoke out, “Hunter Blackwood killed your parents in cold blood, all because he wanted to become alpha of the pack. He listened to the council and allowed them to use him in th
The Reaper could not help but laugh at the boldness of the she-wolf. He watched her with intrigue, and yeah, she looked the same but there was something different about her.She looked more…courageous. But that was not all. He squinted his eyes as he looked at her, trying to figure out what was so different about her. She was dressed exactly the same, and her clothes were even dirtier than before so he could not put his finger on what was so prominent now about the she-wolf.“Are you sure you’re not scared of me? I can smell your fear from here, she-wolf,” he said to her as he walked towards her, smirking.Lin knew that the guy was right, she was afraid of him. But she was also not lying, she was not as scared of him as she used to be.“Where is Hunter?”“Have you made a choice?”“Where is Hunter?” She ignored his question as he had ignored hers.“Darling, you’re not getting Hunter alive except if you leave the quest and all this behind. Why do you even want to be the alpha of a pac
Hunter had banged against the metal bars for almost an hour now and still found no luck. He was devastated.Him being captured had already bruised his ego, and now to add to it, Lin had been taken in too.She shifted back into his wolf. The cage was just too strong. He sat down, tired and drained, his heart pounding in his chest due to how much he had exerted himself. He kept looking at Lin, she was across from him, in another cage. “Lin,” he called out to her but she was still unconscious. He was worried about her, but he could tell that she was not dead.He could hear the beating from her heart. And could even hear her shallow breathing, thanks to his supernatural sense of hearing. He called her once more but there no luck so all he did was close his eyes and run his hand through his hair in frustration.“At least she’s not dead,” he mumbled to himself. After an hour or more, Lin stirred in her sleep, her eyes fluttering as she woke up slowly. She did not have a clue as to where sh
