Chapter Two~Lin's Sneaky Mission

Lin parked right in front of the hotel and turned off the engine of the car. It was a fancy hotel, it reminded her of the one that her boyfriend had taken her to last weekend.

She grabbed her phone, opened the door, and marched her way to the entrance of the place, completely throwing away the fact that she had to be at work in fifteen minutes.

When she reached the receptionist, she was greeted with a friendly face.

“Hi, ma’am. Would you like to have a room?” The blonde receptionist asked.

Lin forced a smile and flipped her hair. “No, um…but I would like to know which room Robert Hood is in.”

The receptionist maintained her warm smile and replied professionally, “I really wish that I could help you. But I really can not give out that information.” Her voice was smooth.

Lin cursed under her breath because she knew this was true. But that did not mean that she was going to give up.

She grabbed her phone and texted No User. ‘I’m at the hotel and the stupid receptionist won’t tell me the room number.’

The reply came with no delay, ‘Room 299. Second floor. Take the elevator and under the doormat right in front of the door, you will find a keycard that will give you access to the room.’

Lin smiled. She didn’t like No User at first but now whoever that was was actually growing on her. She looked back at the receptionist and nodded happily. “Thank you for your help.”

She walked away and headed for the elevator, pressing the button that had the number, 2, labeled on it.

Before the automated doors could close, a lady and a little girl joined her in the elevator. She didn’t mind though. She was more concerned about her best friend that her boyfriend was screwing.

When the elevator came to a stop, the doors opened smoothly and Lin stepped out. She paid attention to the numbers on top of the doors and made sure to check for the number that she was told to check for.

Room 299.

Her eyes lit up when she finally saw the number. She headed for the door and her eyes shot straight at the doormat. She left it and indeed, under it was a keycard.

Gosh, she was falling in love with No User with each passing second.

Lin held onto the keycard for a few seconds. Everything seemed still. She had not even seen her boyfriend with her best friend yet and her heart was already breaking. She felt like she was drowning.

But she took in a deep breath and let it out before putting the keycard on the scanner. The door made a small beep before signaling that it was open.

Lin tentatively opened the door and walked into the room, with her heart pounding. She could hear romantic music playing and also could hear a familiar voice.

“Please god, don’t let it be true,” She prayed quietly.

She really did not want it to be true. She did not want to have to break up with her boyfriend. She did not want to lose him.

Robert had been so good to her for the past few years. He had really helped her career as an influencer.

She was someone who did not even have a thousand followers before but now she proudly had half a million already. She was getting brand deals from brands that she had never believed existed.

Life was really good. They were living together in a mansion-like house and even had two adorable dogs.

Being someone who had lost contact with her family for personal reasons, she basically had no family. No uncles or aunties that she knew. So Robert was kind of like the only natural person she had as a family.

So again, she really did not want to lose him.

Lin walked deeper into the room and then her eyes fell on the unruly bed. She saw two used condoms on the ground and her heart skipped a beat.

The door of the bathroom suddenly made a sound and Lin watched her boyfriend walk out naked, not even a towel covering him.

“F*ck! Lin, what are you doing here?!” Robert was startled. He could not believe that his girlfriend was in the room with him. His heart began pounding in his chest and he tried to hide his nakedness.

He wanted to give Jane a sign so she should stay in the shower but it was too late because the girl had already walked up from behind him.

“Babe, what’s wrong?” She asked as she touched Robert’s shoulder, only for her eyes to fall on her best friend. “Lin,” She said the name as her heart dropped.

Lin smiled sadly as tears blinded her vision for a few seconds before falling down her face. “Wh-what did I ever do? Huh? What did I ever do to you two to deserve this?” Her voice cracked at the end.

Jane rushed back into the bathroom and grabbed two towels. She wrapped one around herself quickly and threw the other at Robert before heading to her best friend.

“Lin, my gosh, I am so so sorry,” She apologized.

“Don’t…” Lin’s voice was small.

“Please, please don’t shut me out. I messed up, please.”

“Messed up? Jane, you f*cked my boyfriend! And you’re married for f*ck’ sake!” Lin responded loudly.

Tears streamed down Jane’s face. She knew that she had royally f*cked up. But in the midst of all this, she was kind of intrigued as to how Lin had found them in the hotel. She and Robert had been very careful.

“I know, I know,” Jane replied, dropping to her knees. “Forgive me, Lin.”

As for Robert, he had already walked over to the bed and started to dress, knowing that there was no going back. He already knew that the girl that he loved more than anything in the world was about to leave him.

Lin could feel the rage again. She glanced at Robert and then back at Jane. It was at that moment that she snapped.

She took the unopened bottle of champagne on the table, not far from her, and smashed it hard on top of her best friend’s head, hearing a sickening crack in the process.
