Chapter Thirty-eight

Almost as if we read each other's minds, Sophia, Canary, and I stomped out of the training ground into the mansion in search of Alexander. The letter was held firmly in my grasp as we entered the living room, which was quiet. No one was there. We made our way to the study, and there he was, seated behind his desk, while Julian and Alphonse had their seats on a couch. They had a look of surprise on their faces as we made our way into the study, closing the door behind us.

Sophia and Canary were quick to join their husbands on the plush three seater couch, while I chose to remain by the door, attempting to collect my scattered thoughts.

After I did that, I held the letter up, locking my eyes with a fatigued Alexander who remained seated.
