105: Why does she demean herself this way?

Seated before the vanity, Lizzie stared at her reflection. Her visage was haggard; her skin, pale, and dark circles stamped beneath her eyes. She had spent an entire night looking after him, only to be greeted with this sight. Why was she debasing herself like this?

She reached out to touch her face. If she were to appear before Louise like this, she would undoubtedly be bombarded with questions. So, she sat quietly, thinking of nothing and unwilling to move. It wasn't until her stomach rumbled protestingly, that she realized she was hungry. Her stomach was indeed protesting.

Rising, Lizzie made her way to the kitchen. She looked at the porridge - her painstakingly made porridge - that he had dismissed. The sight of the warm porridge, still sending up wisps of steam, brought tears to her eyes. Weeping openly, she huddled next to the kitchen cabinet.
