[Rewind Continued]
We continued talking via dirt writing the rest of the day or night, whatever it was. I lost track of time and the thick material of the tent blocked out all extra light from outside. I thought I was aware of Leah’s abilities, but I sorely underestimated her. She has been on a journey of discovery all her own and picked up many skills along the way. I make mental notes of things I really want to know when we get out of this. Like she seems to radiate heat all of the time, but has this innate quality to control it. As wolves we generally run warmer, but she was able to warm my hands at will. I also noticed when she was holding my hands that my silver bracelets would feel like they were buzzing. It was a very strange feeling. She was also able to look and analyze our surroundings more quickly than I have ever seen a male alpha. Sh
[Present] Leah POV I snap my fingers in Renee’s face. “Hey, are you still with us?” “Umm, yeah, sorry. Just a déjà vu moment.” I looked her in the eyes, she’s been a little distant since we all came out of the dream or whatever that was with the moon goddess and the witch mother. “Are you sure you’re okay? We’ve had a lot of bombs dropped on us in the last few days. It’s completely reasonable if you’re not okay. Just let us know so we can help, alright.” She nods her head at me. “I just need to see Taylor, being this far away from him for this long is becoming painful and distracting.” I
Leah POV “What the hell?!” Damien was the first to recover and speak. “How did you do that? The moon hasn’t risen yet.” He looks wary, but also has not let go of JEssica’s hand either. “Selene told us the other night. I needed to know to get through losing Jason and prepare for this war. She knew that the two of you would be fine waiting until the day of the full moon, but must have thought now was a good time to reveal you to each other.” It’s the only explanation. Trent would never have let me go without his true mate by his side. Now he knows what he will miss out on if he tries to keep me bound to him. “Don’t you see? Now you need to let me go, and Jess needs to let Damien go. We need to be with the people who were designed to make us whole. I know you feel it, please don’t fight this anymore. I really do care about you, but we need to set th
Elyse POVLeah grabbed me and spun me so fast I had no idea what was going on. I was definitely unstable and was prepared to fall face first into the ground, but big warm hands found me instead and tingles ran from the place where the hands were holding me on my upper arms. I was caught in a tangle of limbs apologizing as I tried to right myself and step back from my savior, but I seemed to have lost some of my coordination with the contact.“Woah, stop fighting me, would ya?”I froze, no. way. I know this voice, I have been around this voice my whole life. I have always thought he was handsome, but he’s younger than me so it was never in more than a brotherly way. There are only so many guys that we hang out with because of the whole rank stigmas, but he’s not even 20
Leah POV “Our packs have lived in peace for as long as I can remember. We have never had an attack of this magnitude, we have also never had a friendly non-pack population,” He gives me a side look like the term is still foreign in his mouth. “We are all truly grateful for everyone who has stood up to fight and protect our packs regardless of member status. We want to celebrate all the lives lost, but I don’t think I am the right person to do that. As we mentioned before our packs have begun a new path and those of us in leadership have been too blind to see the change. Our successors have been smart enough to bring us into this change and were able to keep casualties to a minimum. I believe it is they who should lead our celebration of life.” He stops and turns to me and my friends. “This is your show now.” My eyes go wide and m
Leah I woke up more sore than I ever have before in my life, and I have been training since I was little with no pads or safety guards. I laid there with my eyes closed, just living in the feeling of being marked and mated. Giving focus to each and every sore muscle or bruised skin from Damien’s endless love bites. I inhale deeply and notice our scents have merged, it is the most heavenly smell that has ever hit my nose. I could curl up here with him forever, never moving, just enjoying his touch on my bare skin. “Whatever you’re thinking, if you keep thinking it, we will never leave this room.” Damien’s husky voice whispers in my ear. I jumped a little not realizing he was awake behind me. “Can you even move after last night? I’m almost afraid to try, just laying here I can f
Leah Elyse and I are in the war room checking all of the computers and cameras. It’s weird being here and being without Jason. He was a huge part of helping us build this and not having him here to help rebuild breaks my heart. I still want to find out who his mate was and what happened. Jason would never betray me like that without being forced or compelled. I need to talk to Bronwyn about how that might have worked or if she may know something. His mate will suffer at my hands if he harmed Jason knowingly. I shake my head pulling my thoughts out of the dark places they were going and refocused on what Elyse and I are doing. We decided after Jason locked us down we needed new protections on our security coding. I’m currently writing new failsafes into the surveillance codes so no one else can override my progra
Leah I forgot how much I really enjoy building things that help my pack. Having several days off running for our lives has brought that sense of purpose to the surface. I am working with a few of the gammas who helped me run the war room previously. The motion sensors are all up and running now and just need to be tested. “We will send out a patrol group in each territory to test the motion sensors in the ground and the ones that activate the video surveillance.” I say looking at my team. “Is there anything else they could test while they are out there?” “We should take some time to check blind spots. I feel like that is how we missed the activity before you and Renee were taken and probably how we missed the movements of Max and Victor and their witch.” Tristan says with a sneer.
Leah “Alright, looks like everyone is in place” Elyse tells us. As the scout team is exiting the tunnels near the Silver Mist internal border. We can see clearly on the tunnel cameras and the cameras facing the tunnel exit are good to go. We switch over to systematically checking all the cameras in the area. With the former alphas and the addition of the new trackers there were 10 in the group. We have five circling on patrol and five testing the cameras. “Camera one and two are good, there is about a three foot blind spot where someone could stand if they know about the cameras.” Elyse is taking notes. “Have Demitri walk south east again..stop, I just lost him. Someone take note of that position. Have him walk again..stop, he’s back on camera. Now we need to know how wide that bllind spot goes. Have someone stand on
