Damien
I didn’t see my brother for the rest of the day after Renee summoned him. I wasn’t worried about it though. He was 18 and had been given his mate early by the moon goddess. I would have spent every moment with my mate as well if she had been given to me early. He saw what I went through waiting for Leah, he was not going to waste his advantage.
I am so tired after whatever magical draining we had to do for Simon. Now I understand what the moon goddess and witch mother meant when they said it will physically weaken you. So I clearly didn’t pull enough from the elements around us. I really should check on Leah and make sure I didn’t do anything to her as well.
As I reach the corridor to our room Leah comes rushing up to me and wraps me in a big hug. “I’ve missed you.” She
Thank you for reading. Any constructive comments are always welcome and gems are appreciated.
Leah “Elyse, will you and Renee double check all the sensors and cameras around the North side of the packhouse territory? I woke up with a really bad feeling this morning.” I say, mindlinking my friends. “Renee, use your intuition and see if you can sense anything beyond what we can see. Elyse, see if you can enhance her sensitivity.” “Okay, Leah, we’re on it, but can you give us anything else about this bad feeling?” Renee asks, worry in her tone. “No, I just woke up with this pressure on my chest and the sound of laughter. Whatever I was hearing sounded like it was saying ‘we’re coming’ but I have no idea what that means or if I was dreaming. I just need to recheck everything and I can’t do that alone.” I know I sound crazy, but with everything that has happened, the craziest thing tends to b
Leah We all had our jobs to do and we did what we do best, divide and conquer. By noon we had the whole pack gathered behind the main packhouse. We left the children with trusted and loyal omegas in the territory packhouses. As a group we are standing on the back porch of the packhouse which is slightly elevated so the whole pack can see us. As I look around I know not everyone is gathered, but we can only do so much and I don’t want to compel people to show up. We will make note of who is missing and they will be the first on the list to be questioned or detained if something goes wrong. The former Lunas are already making mental notes of people they recognize as absent. “We are here to let you know about what is going on in the fight against Max and his followers. We have heard many rumors starting to fly about and
Leah Damien picks me up and carries me to our room and gently sets me on the bed. The rest of our Alpha group follows silently. Once everyone is comfortable and Damien is settled in behind me, sitting against the headboard and pulling me close, resting back against his chest. He is rubbing my arms gently and I can’t fight the safe feeling it gives me. I take a deep breath and fill everyone in on what Bronwyn told me. “She said she was using the bond to talk to me, but it was draining what was left of my magic at the time. I’m supposed to share this protection spell with you guys, but I don’t know how. She was singing or humming, I guess would be a better way to describe it…” “Wait, think about it again. I felt
Leah The last 24 hours have been a whirlwind. No one has come to terms with the fact that I will be the main target for Max, but it did comfort them to know that I wasn’t planning on doing it alone. I just knew that I would be his main focus and if I can maintain that focus long enough, his arrogance would be his downfall. “Move those bunks to the far wall and start assembling, we need at least a hundred more done by tonight.” Jess is shouting over the din of noise going on in the packhouse dry storage area we are converting into a shelter. “Leah, Leah! Come and look!” Someone is shouting from across the room. It’s Elyse and Danielle and they are smiling like idiots.
Leah‘EVERYONE TO THEIR STATIONS! GET ALL OUR VULNERABLE TO THE NEAREST BUNKER AND MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE PACK SAFE HOUSE! THIS IS NOT A DRILL OUR OUTER BARRIERS ARE UNDER ATTACK!’ I scream through the mindlink.I feel a punch to my gut but I am nowhere near anyone who would harm me. When I close my eyes as I feel it again, I notice red flares across my mind. I can see where attacks are happening!“Damien! I can see the attacks!” I grab his hand tightly keeping my eyes closed. “We need a team to the Blood Moon territory, the Night Fang territory and Silver Mist. Can you do that? I need to hit the war room and let Elyse and Danielle know, maybe I can prevent too many casualties.”“Okay, babe, be safe.” He kisses me hard and deep like he’s putting every ounce of his affection for me in this kiss. And it hits me, he might be saying goodbye. I grab his face and pull him in tighter.“You be safe too, check in regularly, please. I will let you know if I move from the war room.” I look up at hi
72 Damien The rumbling in the ground started with the growls from the other side of our outer barrier, but as the vibrations grew I knew something else was happening. “Fall back, something is coming from underground!” I shout through the mindlink. Just as I had the thought, all of the areas where we have spelled elements linking our outer barrier explode into the air and I feel a whoosh of air as the protection spell vanishes. The roar of growls, hissing and other angry noises overwhelmed me like a tidal wave. Masses of angry, demonic looking wolves charged our way. “Brace for impact” Ellinore, whispers through the link and then she jumps her fiery ass into the fray. She was magnificent, grabbing at anything that looked remotely hostile. She tore through limbs and tossed many rogues aside like rag dolls. Titan and Onyx look at each other and realize they are missing out on all the fighting, staring at Flare. All of these females really have shown how strong they are, and hav
Damien We keep taking down these wolves, but they won’t stay down. Whatever is possessing them is making them less vulnerable to our fighters. Even the ones on fire only stop when they finally die from the flames. “They just keep coming. What are we supposed to do?” Trent asks as he and his wolf, Carmine, take a swipe with their paw at one rogue while grabbing the throat of another and pinning her to the ground. “Leah said not to kill them, but I don’t think we are going to have a choice.” “That was probably intentional. I bet Max was banking on us being unwilling to kill innocent wolves. He sees it as a weakness and is exploiting it. Either we kill them or someone comes up with a plan to contain them.” Taylor says ripping the throat out of another rogue. He and I have no problems taking out anyone who threatens our pack and our mates' safety. He has kids to think about now, so does Demitri. The future of our pack depends on us being able to protect our members, but the wrath
Leah Nyx is running toward the Red Claw territory. Where could Ellinore be? She’s already disappeared once because of Max’s magic. What happened to her this time? As we run through the territory I can see injured and deceased people everywhere. My heart is going out to all of them and I am becoming more angry. “Danielle, we need healers here now. There are so many people down.” “I have them on the way now, I couldn’t send them while Ellinore was lighting everything on fire.” Danielle responds, panting. “Why do you sound out of breath?” We are heading to you as well, you didn't think we would let you go out and fight all by yourself did you? Even Taylor says we need to be together. You know it’s serious if he’s letting Renee out of her safety hole.” She gives a little chuckle. “I’m almost there.” Nyx’s legs burn from the force of running and we are exhausted trying to hold our emotions in. So many people have already been hurt and it’s only going to get worse. I can feel the
