Thirty four

I felt a gentle hand patting my hair, and I slowly opened my eyes to find Carlton's face hovering over me. I groggily looked at him, then snuggled back into the warmth of his chest, letting out a soft groan.

"You need to wake up now," Carlton whispered.

I opened my eyes again, and he asked, "What happened to your leg last night?"

I hesitated, remembering everything that led to our passionate encounter. "I fell," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

"You shouldn't have done what you did last night. You could have died. Don't do it again."

I gazed into his eyes, feeling a mix of emotions: guilt, shame, and a hint of defiance. "Ok," I conceded.

He asked, "Does your leg still hurt?"

I assessed the ache. "It doesn't hurt like yesterday," I replied, my voice a little stronger now.

As I lay there, wrapped in Carlton's arms, both of us naked. I knew I had to confront the consequences of my actions. But for now, I just wanted to savor the warmth of our embrace.
