“I walked in to see his body still on the cold floor.” I started.

I lay quietly on my bed after the interrogation with the police.

The thought of it left me with a bitter taste in my guts, despite how much I fought my mind to forget.

It was unfair to watch my life crumble before me. I had not believed Isak when he was telling me.

I had trusted Ian more and had broken a perfect relationship.

I swallowed a hard knot on my throat and just closed my eyes, wishing that everything would change the moment I reopened my eyes.

But I was still faced with the truth the moment I reopened them.

Isak was no more, and this was the most painful time of my life, just a few weeks after the birth of the baby. I rubbed my stomach slowly in pain and fear of what I'd face next.
