No damsel in distress

JAMES SALVATORE.

"Boss, we have a situation," Diego said, walking into my study. His face was serious, and I could tell he had bad news. I sat up straighter, my mind already spinning with possibilities. "What is it?" I asked, my voice steady and calm.

"One of our bars in downtown is being harassed by a rival gang," Diego said. "They're causing trouble and scaring away customers. If we don't do something, we could lose a lot of money."

I took a deep breath, trying to remain level-headed. "We can't let that happen," I said.

"I agree," Diego said. "Layla and a few of our best men are o their way to the bar. They're keeping an eye on things, but we need to take action before this escalates. Should we send in reinforcements?"

I thought for a moment, considering our options. "No," I said. "We don't want to start a war. But we do need to send a message."

I decided to go myself. I needed to see the situation for myself, and I wanted to send a clear message to this rival gang. So, I gathered my things and got in the car with Diego. We drove in silence, the tension thick in the air. When we arrived, I could already see that the gang had caused damage to the bar. Broken windows, graffiti on the walls, and a few cars in the parking lot had been vandalized.

We got out of the car and approached the bar, keeping our eyes open for any sign of trouble. I could feel the adrenaline coursing through my veins, my senses on high alert. Then, I saw the leader of the rival gang, standing on the sidewalk in front of the bar. He had a smug look on his face, and he was flanked by two of his men. I took a deep breath and walked towards him, Diego and Layla at my side.

"Hello James" the leader asked, his voice cold and dismissive.

"I want to talk," I said, my voice calm and measured. I didn't want to provoke him, but I also didn't want to show any weakness. "I understand that you and your men have been causing trouble here. I want it to stop."

The leader sneered, his eyes dark and hard. "Why should I listen to you?" he asked. "I could take you and your people down anytime I want."

I remained calm, refusing to be intimidated. "I think we both know that's not true. "But let's not waste time with empty threats." I said, refusing to be baited by the leader's taunts. "I think we can come to an understanding, if we're both willing to be reasonable."

The leader looked at me for a moment, considering my words. "Fine," he said, his voice still sharp. "Let's talk business."

I nodded, and we started to negotiate. I had a plan, and I was determined to see it through. But I knew that it would take all of my skill and cunning to pull it off.

"What I propose is this," I said. "We divide up the territory, and we agree to stay out of each other's way. No more violence, no more trouble. We keep to our own areas, and we both benefit from the arrangement."

The leader narrowed his eyes. "And if I don't agree?" he asked, his tone challenging.

"Then we continue as we are," I said, my voice steady. "But I think we both know that's not in either of our best interests."

He considered my words, clearly weighing his options.

Just then, we heard a shout from across the street. I turned to see a woman struggling with a man, who was trying to drag her away. My instincts took over, and I ran towards them.

"Hey!" I yelled, my voice firm and authoritative. "Let her go!"

The man turned to me, his eyes filled with rage. "Mind your own business," he growled, his grip on the woman's arm tightening. I stepped towards him, my gaze cold and I said. "You have the guts to challenge me, James Salvatore?

The stranger's eyes widened in fear, and he finally stopped struggling against my grip. "Wait," he said, his voice shaking. "James Salvatore?"

I nodded, my expression hard and unyielding. "That's right," I said. "And if you ever come near this woman again, you'll have to answer to me."

The stranger looked at me, then at the woman, then back at me. He swallowed hard, and I could see the fear in his eyes. "I understand," he said, his voice barely a whisper. "I won't bother her again."

I turned towards her. " Hello Damsel" in return all I got was an eye roll and a scoff.

"I'm no Damsel in distress and certainly didn't need your help back there"

I raised an eyebrow, a faint smile on my lips. "So, no 'knight in shining armor' moment, then?" I said, my tone light and teasing.

Alicia let out a short laugh, rolling her eyes. "I think I had the situation under control, thanks," she said, her voice playful. "But I appreciate the help."

"Boss," Diego said, entering the room. "Mr. Sawyer is still waiting for you. He's getting impatient."

"I'm aware," I replied. " Do me a favor and drive Miss Alicia and her friend home?"

"It would be my honor, boss," Diego replied, bowing his head respectfully. "I'll make sure they get home safely."

I gave him a grateful nod, then turned back to the leader. "Now, as I was saying..." I began, ready to resume our discussion.

"I appreciate your offer," Mr. Sawyer scoffed, his voice cold and menacing. "But I'm afraid I must decline. This territory is mine, and mine alone. And if you think you can take it from me, you have another thing coming."

I could see the anger in his eyes, but I refused to back down. "I'm not trying to take anything from you," I said, keeping my voice steady and confident. "I simply want to work together to make this territory more prosperous for both of us."

"You're wasting your time," Mr. Sawyer replied, his tone dismissive.
