Chapter 7 You’ll Pay For Your Arrogance

Ivanka gave Michael a sarcastic smile. She knew that he must be thinking that she complained about him to Rosie.

In the past, Ivanka had tried to avoid having Michael misunderstand her. But now… hah!

Even if he misunderstood her, it no longer mattered to her.

It was not as if it would do any harm to her.

“What’re you staring at?! Iv is not the one who snitched on you. You’re the one who saunters to the hospital every single day and don’t even bother going home. Do you think I’m blind?!”

Michael pursed his lips and remained silent.

Rosia continued nagging at Michael throughout dinner and did not show him the slightest bit of mercy.

Meanwhile, Ivanka was happy to see this. In fact, she felt as if she had vented her anger.

Ivanka chatted with Rosie a little longer before she left the mansion with Michael.

But this put Ivanka on the spot.

Grandma was unaware that they had divorced, so she had to get into Michael’s car.

However, she no longer wanted to have any sort of contact with this man. She was already thoroughly annoyed when she was on the way to the Barkworth’s mansion.

Similarly, Michael stood in place with a long face. It made Rosie fly into a rage at him, and she yelled at him, “Open the door for your wife now!”

Ivanka looked up. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out.

With a sour face, Michael went to the passenger’s seat and opened the door for Ivanka.

Ivanka stood in place as if in a daze. When Rosie saw this, she nudged Ivanka forward. “Iv, why are you just standing around? Get in the car already!”

Ivanka drew in a deep breath and said with a smile, “Grandma, it’s getting late. You should go inside. We’ll go back now.”

As soon as Grandma returned to the mansion, Ivanka could leave on foot and call a cab.

Meanwhile, Michael stayed silent, but his expression remained dark.

Perhaps Rosie had seen through Ivanka’s hidden desire, but she grinned and said, “I’ll go inside after you leave. Go on, get in.”

Ivanka hesitated. Michael lost his patience and growled, “Get in, now.”

Feeling resigned, she got into Michael’s car. He closed the door and turned to Rosie. “You should go in.”

Rosie frowned and said impatiently, “Stop nagging me. Get into the car now!”

Michael fell speechless.

She treated them so differently… Michael said nothing. He boarded his car and left.

The atmosphere inside the car was so quiet that they could even hear each other’s breaths.

Ivanka did not bother to speak to him. When Michael turned into a corner and his car was out of Grandma’s sight, she said darkly, “Stop the car.”

She sounded as if she was giving him an order. Michael sneered, “Who are you to give me an order?”

“Giving you an order?” Ivanka scoffed. “Why are you so reluctant to stop the car? Is it because you’re reluctant to divorce me and want to send me home?”

Screech!

The car came to a halt.

Michael looked furious and was about to mock her. Ivanka gave him a fake smile. “Mr. Barkworth, if you want to divorce me, please do it quickly. Or else, I might take back my words and will keep bothering you. By then, I’ll make it so that you can marry Chiara or get a divorce with me!”

Right after speaking, Ivanka reached out for the door handle.

Kachak!

The car door was locked.

Ivanka frowned and turned to Michael. “What’s the meaning of this?”

Michael sneered. “Ivanka, do you seriously think that Grandma can always defend you?”

“I knew it. You think that I snitched on you.” Ivanka maintained her smile. “Regardless of whether I snitched on you, getting a divorce with me is all that matters to you, isn’t it? Mr. Barkworth, please give me a precise date. When are we going to the City Hall?”

Michael glared at her. “Do you plan to inform Grandma after getting a divorce?”

“I do wonder what exactly goes on in your head.” Ivanka felt speechless. Her features twisted into a look of impatience. “If you keep putting this off because of all your worries, you can never split up with me. Mr. Barkworth, are you free tomorrow?”

Michael said coldly, “I told you, I’ll ask someone to contact you when I’m free! Get out of the car now!”

Ivanka scoffed. “Do you really think that I want to be in the same car as you? Michael Barkworth, you will pay for your arrogance someday!”

After she finished speaking, Ivanka got out of his car without sparing him another glance. Michael put the car in gear and was about to leave. Ivanka then sneered and deliberately left the door open. She said nonchalantly, “Mr. Barkworth, have a safe journey.”
