It was not easy for Kitty to go back to the hotel after her short visit at the bar. She could see in the way how Metis broke that news to her that Erebus didn't want her to know where he went. In other words, he didn't want to see her anymore.
She was out of line the last time they met.
This man had only been in her life two full days, and Kitty already felt like losing a limb when she realized she won't ever meet Erebus again if HE doesn't want to. He is capable of that, and she had no choice whatsoever. Kitty held her fists tight without realizing she was missing Erebus. She thought the horrible feeling she was experiencing was an upset directed at herself.
She had never been so attached to someone who doesn't want her. Of all the good and bad people coming and go in her life, she had always belonged to herself. She returns love with love; she returns hate with indifferent. She never felt this kind of abandoned and longing after she felt unwanted from someone.
Why can't she just forget about him?! She wanted to do that in the first place! And now she did, she realized it doesn't feel good.
Kitty signed and kept on dragging her feet, but suddenly she couldn't find the bright and sunny street she came from. The world is now all grey and dirty and normal again. She lost Erebus, she lost a witch mom, and she lost a whole magic world.
"How did I mess this up?!" Kitty mumbled to herself, frustrated.
She threw herself into the bed, not wanting to think, or even exist anymore. She suddenly started missing working, at least she couldn't not think about anything and just get on with a life.
She missed the stuff lunch by the time she got back at her room, and Kitty didn't want to go the kitchen either. And it gave her more frustration to woke up, only to find out it's 7:40, meaning she missed dinner too.
"Ughhh!" Kitty grumbled at herself and fell back to her bed. Now that she HAD to work in less than two hours, she suddenly didn't want to go. She wanted to hide herself in a hole and keep on avoiding the world, so she didn't have to think about how big she messed up.
But she couldn't. Emma was still waiting for her. She had to get herself together and do something. At least there was a witch now helping her with that. She couldn't afford to give up now.
Kitty sat up in her bed, took a few minutes to look for some energy left in her and got up. She needed food first. She had to live, to worry about all the trouble in her life.
She was walking out of the door when she noticed a small box in the corner. Was it there this morning? She couldn't remember. But her heart sped up the moment she saw it.
It was the phone! The phone Erebus was trying to give her!
She jumped to the box and opened it. She was right! Kitty suddenly felt as if the world was alive again. She reminded her to not think too much about it. Maybe it was there before Erebus decided to leave for good. But she couldn't help herself from missing him more.
It was the newest model in the market, but in the phone, Kitty found a number already saved in the contact with the name: Erebus.
She was beyond happy! Her ears were hot and red for the guilty of hurting him and having him still caring about her, but she couldn't wipe out the smile on her face knowing that Erebus was not out of her life all together!
It took her five minutes to struggle whether to call him right there but she decided to not to. She had to work soon, and this time she wanted to treat him right. Maybe tomorrow.
And tomorrow was once again, a pretty thing that Kitty was looking forward to, unlike this afternoon.
"I'm in trouble." Kitty sighed with fear but also happiness to herself, leaning back on the wall. And that was when she noticed the little note. The note was on top of the box, she put it away when she rushed into opening the box.
"Art museum, 8:00 tonight? I have a surprise for you." Said the note.
Kitty could feel her heart trying to jump out of her chest!
What could this be about? A surprise? Is the art museum the surprise? It was a bit too obvious, silly wolf. Kitty thought to herself with a big smile on her face. She burst out of the door realizing she didn't have much time left. That box must have been there for a whole day!
Running on the street, Kitty couldn't stop her wild imagination. She didn't know she had fell so far for him, and now there was no turning back...
Still, she was 20 minutes late when she got there. She ran into the street, worrying about that Erebus might left already, only to find that there were two men in front of the museum talking, and one of them, was the one who tried to take her away on the first night she ran out!
Kitty's steps caught their attention at the same time. Looked like her sudden appearance was also a surprise to them. It would have been a perfect trap if Kitty wasn't late for so long that they came out from their hiding place, talking about the next step!
Kitty turned and ran, fast as she could, and she could hear the yelling from behind her turning into growling. They shifted!
There was no way she could have escaped from two trained werewolves. Kitty ran into the first door she could open on the street, realizing it was an abandoned building, and went in hiding.
The two wolves were right after her. One of them stood by the entrance, guarding; and the other walked slowly into the dark, dusty room. Only six floors to hide in, only so much corners she could take. This is a catch and run game, only she was bound to lose with no second chances.
Kitty held her breath in one of the rooms on the third floor, knowing it was only a time problem before they catch her. It was the worst day to forget her lucky coat -- the paintbrush the witch gave her was in the coat!
She couldn't hear anything hiding in that room. Wolves can be quiet when they hunt. She opened the phone, knowing this was her only chance but also the biggest chance to give away her location, and she dialed a number--
"Found you!" A creepy voice rose from outside in the hall way of the third floor, as is hiding a laugh but failed with too much excitement. It gave Kitty goosebumps and almost made her heart stopped when she heard--
"Hello?" Erebus's deep, rough voice came through the phone.
"You lost her?!" Erebus was in the office on the 19th floor of the hotel, and Menoetius was down on the floor on one knee in front of him with his head low."I'm sorry, my Lord. I followed her to the Fifth Avenue, and all of a sudden, she just disappeared in the middle of the road. I ran towards there but nothing was abnormal about that place other than the fact that she disappeared. I think she was heading for Maple Avenue though, it's only two blocks away from there, and Kitty seemed to have a clear destination." Menoetius explained in a hurried voice. He was in charge of Kitty's safety this morning, and somehow he lost her."Where's she now?" Erebus waved his hand. He believed Menoetius, but there bound to be something wrong with the store on Maple Avenue, the one Kitty took him to last time. She seemed surprised to see that store. That was not a normal reaction considering she suggested that place."She's returned to the hotel, and is now in her room." Menoetius answered, "Metis ca
"Why did you break my phone? It's not like he can track it or something." Kitty complained to the man "escorting" her from behind. The man: "...""Well, it was brand new, you own me a phone." Kitty carried on, seeing that he didn't intend to talk much. The man: "...""Why do you want me though? I don't really--" Kitty shrugged and kept on trying to get him to talk. He must know stuff, at least more than her. And it might slow them down if she gets him to talk, too."Shut up!" The man suddenly yelled at Kitty, and she shrunk a bit and stopped."Why are you so mean? I'm following your order, aren't I?" You need the street wisdom to survive if you are a stray cat. And Kitty was a good one."Keep on walking." The man said sullenly. Apparently he had passed his out burst and was trying to keep in silence again."Hey it's you who want something from me now. Better be polite to me. It's not like I'm asking too difficult questions, am I? You will kill after anyways, why can't you talk to me fo
Her prediction failed. The silver wolf sped up his last few steps and kicked the ground with his last step to jump up towards them.Kitty finally understood why he was called The Silver Lightning -- he was FAST! Comparing to his movement, Kitty felt like her legs were just running in slow motion.Well, running is running. Kitty didn't stop her steps and just as she passed -- well, as the silver shadow passed her, she heard a huge bang from a crash coming from behind
"Oh, my, God!" Menoetius exclaimed, staring at the entry of the bar with his jaw dropped.Erebus came in, with Kitty in front of him, looking a bit too awkward to talk.Menoetius just got back from his investigation of Maple Avenue, and Metis didn't even get to fill him with what happened yet."Me...Metis, am I hallucinating?" Menoetius stammered at Metis without even taking his eyes off Erebus and Kitty.
Standing in front of Kitty's room in the hallway, Erebus leaned on one arm against the door frame, gazing at Kitty, who was inside the door now, close enough for him to get a scent from her, but not enough to lean in for a kiss."So how are we going to find her?" Kitty was worried about Emma still, though given what they have been doing, she might be safe still for a while."Don't worry. We are working on it as we speak." Well, if by "we", he meant Metis."Let me kno
"My Lord." Iapetus called out to Erebus when he put down the glass and prepared to leave, "There is one more thing you should know.""Speak." Erebus stopped and turn to look at Iapetus."Themis, she found out that Kitty is registered under a couple that died a month ago, and their names are--" Iapetus started with a as cool as possible tone, and Erebus still got upset and cut him off."Are not the same as what she told us, I'm already aware." He frowned. He didn't li
Erebus was woken by the time Kitty went into the shower. He lied his head on his arms and fell back to sleep. He didn't move or even open his eyes when Kitty opened her bedroom door, just curling there on the floor. It WAS a long night and he fell asleep late, but it was because that he wanted to know Kitty's reaction to his wolf form that he lied there, waiting.Kitty didn't try to wake him up, thinking he was exhausted and needed some rest. So she just stood there staring at him for a while.
"Curtis?!" Kitty gasped and the next second--"Ahh!!!" Kitty yelled and ran back into her bedroom."May I come in?" Curtis's voice came through the door with obvious laughter hiding with in."No, you may not!" Kitty yelled as she went around looking for her clothes."But the door is open, and there seems to be a delicious--" Curtis pr
