Chapter 20 Part III – Aunt and Uncle Duties

I returned to the mansion at nearly midnight as if nothing happened.

My eyes found Rory half-asleep at one of the tables, alone, and I felt slightly bad for leaving her. I dragged her back to the mansion and lent her one of the guest rooms before I texted her husband and he came to pick her up.

"Sorry for this, Fallon," Krieg apologized, his sleeping wife in his arms, "She's a very light drinker. Beats me how you managed to convince her to drink with you two, alone."

Krieg was a light-hearted and bubbly man, like Rory. He was cool about it but did mutter a punishment before leaving. I chose not to dwell on it too much and climbed to my room, eager to send my first intel to HQ after starting this mission. I'd rather finish this as soon as I can, seeing how things are becoming more personal—especially with him.
