"What's the matter, son? Are you not satisfied with the marriage your grandfather arranged for you?" the grandfather asked, sensing something was amiss with his mood.

"Even without your arrangements, I would still have married Agnes. However, there's something I need to tell you. Agnes and I are moving to my mansion by the creek next weekend. I hope you can agree to that!" Nicholas replied.

"So soon?" The grandfather knew Nicholas wouldn't stay in the mansion, but he didn't expect his grandson to move so quickly. He thought they would at least stay for a month.

"I don't want to be a bother," Nicholas said, a hint of pain passing through his eyes. The grandfather understood who he was referring to and let out a long sigh, offering a comforting smile.

"Your mother, isn't it?" he spoke almost in a whisper. "But it's okay. Just promise me that Agnes will visit us frequently. I've heard through the mansion walls that your mother really likes her."
