"Where do you think you are going with those things of yours?" Mrs. Kiara asked as she approached Brindle in the hallway leading outside.

"Are you keeping track of my movements within this house, or are you responsible for everyone's mobility?" Brindle asked firmly while folding her arms and maintaining direct eye contact.

"I don't need to figure out your life. How exactly will you be of any use to me?" Mrs. Kiara questioned. "Why do you look like you are not yourself, Mrs. Kiara said. Are you scared of something, oh my baby?" She said and walked closer to her and patted her hair like a baby.

Brindle pulled herself away. "Don't put those hands of yours on me again. As-tu entendu? Have you heard?" she said. "Why won't I look nervous standing in front of a scary monster," she added.

"Scary monster, you don't say. Then have it that that monster is counting your days in this house," Mrs. Kiara said.

Brindle gulped nervously, rolled her eyes at her, and walked away.
