Chapter 48

The night wind gently blew the white curtains, bringing a fresh breeze and making Giovanna shrink. Antony rushed over and closed them. Her heart raced, trying to understand why Antony now seemed so caring and attentive to her.

“You can’t sleep with these windows open,” he said as he finished locking them. “It's harmful to the baby.”

Giovanna frowned in confusion. When Antony turned to look at her, he saw that she was huddled on the bed, feeling scared, perhaps, of his presence. Although he felt the urge to stay there to protect her, Antony realized it was better to return to his room. Maybe Giovanna had dreamed of him and woke up in a panic.

“I’ll ask Tania to bring you a glass of water.” he walked around the bed and started walking out of the room when Giovanna’s hands grabbed him.

Her hands were delicate. Antony had never noticed that Giovanna’s hands were so beautiful.
