An hour later…
“Cherry, are you hungry? I can get you something to eat.” Maria offered. She just finished tidying up the apartment and was preparing to leave for some supplies. Firstly, Maria wanted to make sure Cherry was comfortable and not feeling sick before calling it a day.
“No, I don’t think I want to eat.” Cherry muttered lost in her thought. She leaned on the frame separating the bedroom from the kitchen, running her hand up and down her belly. The silent involuntary action brought comfort and a close bond to her baby and strengthened her core.
Maria drops the cloth basket on the floor and goes to meet Cherry. She comes in front of her hoping to get a cheerful expression with her weird smile but got nothing.
“I know you must be thinking about how you are going to raise this child on your own, and also what people would say if they found out, but can I tell you a secret I never told anyone?”
