CHAPTER SEVEN

My body is something else.

This was the third time I was waking up today and it was already nighttime. The first one due to sleeping, the second due to orgasm and the third due to-

Oh, my days.

Wolves.

A huge ass wolf jumped on me. It made me get dizzy and I remembered when I saw his cold blue eyes gazing at me. He was the powerful wolf running towards me, its black and shiny fur striking in the sun.

My heart sped as I stayed in bed remembering Corey's words. He said he was one of them. I was not entirely shaken because of the wolves, I sort of suspected they were real. I would tell Corey about them then but I wouldn’t use rank names like Alpha or Luna because I didn’t know them, they were mere fantasies of mine.

But Corey knew.

The slimeball.

The door busted open and I slammed into the bed, pretending to be asleep. I was simply tired and my mind was at different places at once. I couldn’t bear to see another wolf or human right now.

“I can hear your eyes twitch.” The voice was so deep and close that I stopped breathing, then a chuckle came after. “Breathe Avara. Don’t die.”

Avara.

It sounded so good on his tongue. My heart fluttered for some reason and I couldn’t stop it, it had a mind of its own. On cue, I relaxed, taking small breaths at a time.

“That’s it. You’re doing well,” The tips of his fingers traced my skin and it almost made me hitch my chest but I ended up bringing out shaky breaths. I felt a small dip beside the bed and soon, I could feel someone looming over me.

The fingers moved up to my hair and caressed it.

What was he doing?

He moved down to my eyes and played with my lashes a bit. Then, they took a journey down my nose and stopped on my lips.

“Beautiful.”

Fuck, his voice.

“I wish- it could be you.”

Huh?

Soon, I felt some heat at the side of my neck and shook a bit when I felt his nose bump my neck, he moved it up to my hair and kissed my neck, on the mark. The pleasure moved through me, making me open my mouth softly. Small breaths hit my neck as he giggled. Then soon he stood up, leaving me there all alone. Shivering and wanting.

The sleep that consumed me after was confusing. All he had to do was touch me and I was dozing off again. Was something wrong with me?

What did he mean by he wished it was me? Why couldn’t it be me?

Ugh, shut up, Avara, don’t tell me you’re already agreeing to this madness.

But I was his mate. His other half?

The thought was on my mind as I slept off.

As the girl slept peacefully on the bed, he walked out to the corridor remembering his discussion with the seer, how was it possible? The man had referred to his mate as the cause of his doom. She had come to life to finish what she had started long ago. He had made her sound like such a terrible person and that was enough to make him scared.

He walked down the stairs with his shirt still hanging loosely on his body, he had just come back from training and he couldn’t stop himself from walking to where they said she was asleep. He chuckled to himself when he remembered how she had fainted when he transformed in front of her, it sort of looked cute. How would such a beautiful and innocent mate be his doom? At that moment, he wanted to reject her but he knew he couldn’t.

Slamming her to him back then was the best time he had ever had. Enzo was no amateur when it came to making himself feel good. He slept around with chosen concubines who could satisfy him at that moment. But he had not even slept with her, and yet, he felt it was the best sex ever.

He had no words, then and he still had no words now. It was wonderful, holding her to him and doing all those kinds of stuff to her. He was so turned on and everything, that he had almost forgotten she was human, so soft and fragile.

“Beware of that girl Alpha, when she realizes her purpose, she would no longer be your beloved but your doom.”

Those words reeled his head in and he looked down in sadness as he entered the kitchen, nodding at maids who greeted him. He wasn’t surprised when he saw his best friend there taking two full popcorn bowls from the pack chef.

André smiled his usual cheeky smile when he saw Enzo, dropping them on the island and jumping on the hard surface himself.

“You look weird, wanna talk about it?” André asked.

The hard Alpha smirked at his carefree best friend, André always cared so easily.

“Don’t you have a mate to get to? Won’t she dice you to pieces if you don’t get up there with the popcorn?” He replied softly, walking to the fridge while his head banged. The thoughts in it were so full.

“Yeah, what about the Luna? She awake yet?” He asked, popping a piece of popcorn into his mouth and waiting expectantly for an answer.

“Nope, she’s not on my mind right now,” He lied while staring at the fridge and wondering what he could microwave. After some silent moments and a few shuffles from André, he sighed and turned to the chef who was just packing up, “Whip up some pancakes for me.”

“Says the guy who entered the field and started punching all of his warriors in the name of training.” André pressed on causing Enzo to sigh in annoyance. He turned to the chef who was already getting the batter, “Leave.”

She nodded and scurried away from the kitchen and Andre took that hint, jumping down from the island he was on. The popcorn and Davina would be so cold right now but he didn’t care, he was more concerned about his best friend who never let feelings get to him.

“I’m going to reject the Luna.”

He stopped walking towards Enzo when he saw the hidden pain in his eyes. Why would an Alpha want to reject his Luna? Their bond was by far the strongest, there had to be a reason but Enzo was already walking out making André hold his hand.

“Please just talk about it,” He pleaded as the other started breathing hard. He left his hand and continued waiting silently.

“She is the one who’s going to kill me. She just doesn’t know it yet, and she has to go before she does.”

“Who told you this? Fergil?”

“Yes.”

“Fuck.” André stopped, understanding why Enzo's mind was imploding. Fergil's visions were never wrong. He was a witch but he specialized in seeing the future. He was one of the fewest witches who were associated with werewolves.

“That’s not all, he says they know what she’s called. She’s like a key to something and he wants to see her.”

There, Andre interjected.

“Taking her to Fergil might be a bad idea, I don’t like him.”

“I have to. I have just been told I can’t be with Avara and yet, I’m still getting drawn to her. If I can’t reject her, I have to make her reject me. And I’ll gladly accept.”
