Chapter 38

The neighing of Colan broke the camaraderie between them, and Grey looked up from Maya, as he let her down. Maya nervously rearranged herself, as she was putting on a dress.

"Why were you riding Colan, and not Cilantro?" Grey asked her.

"Jack said she was ill, and was being attended to, and I just wanted to mount a horse," Maya explained.

"I'm so sorry, alpha. I should have not allowed her ride Colan," Jack hurriedly apologized.

"I should have you punished. You are well aware of Colan's wild state, and yet, you made her ride on him. What if she had been hurt?" Grey demanded in a controlled anger.

"It's my fault, don't blame him," Maya said, trying to defend Jack.

"Take him away," Grey said, waving Jack aside, and Jack held Colan's reins and walked away.
