Chapter 62.

Amelia’s POV

“Eddie…” I tried to say something but the words got stuck when he leaned in and gave me a peck. My eyes remained closed, expecting more than a peck from him but that was just all. I opened my eyes and I saw him smiling at me.

“What were you expecting? A deep kiss?” He asked me teasingly.

I gasped at his audacity and glared at his smiling face. It was obvious that he had been teasing me, and yet, I could not deny or lie to myself that that was exactly what I had hoped for. I huffed and puffed as I pulled away from me, acting offended like a Victorian prima and proper lady. I cleared my throat, not knowing what to say and then eventually told him that I had not been expecting anything from him, especially not what he had been implying.

He raised an eyebrow at me and one corner of his lips turned up into a smirk.

“I only wanted to inquire about the document to know what to help you look for,” I finally managed to get out.

“It’s my divorce file,” he said.

I almost screamed
