Sarah's POV.
“What symbol?” I grunted amidst the pain of my bones cracking up.“The symbol we had been waiting for.” She smiled satisfyingly.I hate to say, but I must admit that I hate what this woman is doing to me, keeping in the suspense of something when I can't obviously do anything at the moment. The pain continued for several minutes, and my last wish at that point was to make it stop, somehow. Just when I thought it was never going to end, the full moon took its rightful place up in the sky and the pain stopped immediately; it was as if I had never gone through that pain. Though it was surprising why all of this was happening to me, I was grateful that the pain had gone, and I had shifted into my wolf.I had sometimes been taunted by other werewolves in the human world for not being able to shift. I wished that could see me right out and regret every word they had said to me. But that was far from coming true.“You are really the chosen.” The woman beamed with a smile.I let out a loud roar and tried to shift back into my human form, but it wasn't working. It was as though Alex noticed what I was going through.“You shouldn't break a sweat about shifting to your human form now, enjoy your wolf while it lasts. And you will have to be like that until the night is over, and the moon has rolled over.”I was shocked. How on earth are there so many rules about me that I don't know about? And the worst part of this all is that all these strangers seem to know me better than I know myself. For me, the night was long and enduring. I sat by the first, watching the rest of the pack have fun while shifting their wolves to their human forms as they wished and I couldn't.“I can't even shift to my human form, and they claim I'm their leader? The Alpha? What a big joke they are!”“Why don't you hunt for us tonight, Sarah?” One of the members requested, and I shrugged in disapproval.“We are your pack, and you shouldn't go against what we all conclude about. You should do as he had said.” Another protested.“Well, I'm not your leader, so I owe none of you any obligations.” I roared through my wolf.Alex got up from the crowd and walked in on me, he bent over and dipped his hands into my soft shiny fur; I could tell from the look on his face that he was enjoying.“It would be fun, you know. More than you can ever imagine, I think you should try it.”I winced, got up and dashed into the woods. Unexpected, I picked a scent of another wolf and when I looked beside me, it was Alex. It was such a relief for me to know that I'm not in this alone.“I got you on this.” He whispered through his mind link and a smile played on my lips for some seconds.I was about to lose focus on my mission when I picked an unfamiliar scent; it was a deer. Though I have not been opportune to taste a deer meat, people have commented that it is probably the best meat in the universe.“It is time I have a taste of this meat.” I said confidently to myself and lunged fasted toward its direction. My paws hit the cold ground several times, the cold penetrating it and settled into my body, but that was the least of my worries at the moment. The deer is my focus and I must hit, tonight!I sensed that I was much closer to it and in order not to give it a hint of what's to become of his fate, I slowly walked behind it. Just when it noticed my presence and tried to run away, I gripped it with my sharp it. The deer struggled had for freedom before it surrendered to the cold hands of death.“You did an impressive job here.” Alex, who had how shifted into his human form, said as he approached me.I left the deer slipped from my mouth, looked at him and nodded.“Let's head back now, the Pack would be expecting us already.” He said, and quickly shifted into his wolf form. The speed at which he shifts surprises me, it was like less than a blink of an eye; I never thought anyone could do that, but I have one right in front of me. I picked up the deer and went raced back to the Pack. The race was more competitive, but I could bet Alex let me win this time.As I walked into the middle of the circle, sounds of cheers filled the air and I dropped the deer by the fire.“You didn't help her, did you?” The woman from earlier asked Alex and I heard.“Not at all, she caught it herself.”Our eyes met, and I threw her a glaring shot which she tried to conceal with a charming smile, but I wasn't buying into it.While some of the pack members were busy trying to roast the deer, Alex approached me and sat beside me.“You still have a lot to learn.” He whispered.I could tell he was talking about the race we hand earlier, and I nodded to his suggestion. After we had finished devouring the deer, the moon began to lose its power and essence, this was the best feeling ever. I used to think humans are useless but now, I think their form has its own powers; I would give anything right now to have my human form back.To keep the place lively, the Pack members resorted to singing and dancing around the fire, and the sight was great to behold. I felt like I had a real family, for once. It all felt so real and happy; this is the kind of life I wish for, and I'm glad I followed Alex. But what if there's a lot of this in Marcus's pack? What if he's so powerful, and I don't have to take the overwhelming position of an Alpha here?“Sarah! Sarah!!”I heard my voice multiple times, but looking around, I couldn't seem to find the person calling me.“Sarah!!!" It came louder and echoing this time. Two months later Alex's POV. Sarah had taken over the position of the Alpha of the Pack and as the days went by, we began to bound. And I even planned to have a dinner date with her tonight to make her take her mind off things for now; she seemed to be hiding a lot of things that hurt her. It was 2pm, and I had been watching the clock for so long that I felt tired of waiting and bored as well. I grabbed my phone from the bedside table while seated on the edge of the bed and dialed Sarah's number. She didn't pick up until the fourth attempt. “Hey, Sarah. How are you doing?” I asked sharply, taking a deep breath along the line. “I'm good….” She paused, expecting me to state my reasons for calling. I guess she isn't the type that has much time to ideal around like me. “I was just calling to check up on you, if that's fine by you.” I stuttered in a low tone. “Of course, it's fine by me. So, if you don't have anything else to say, I would love to hang up now.”“Wait!”“Yes?” She sai
Sarah sat around the bonfire with her pack, deep in discussion about how they were going to overcome the rival pack who had been encroaching on their territory and taking away some of their resources. Alex, a strong and experienced member of the pack, was the first to speak up."I think we need to hit them where it hurts,"he said, his eyes glowing in the firelight. "We know where they're getting their water from. If we can cut off their supply, they'll be weaker and more vulnerable."The woman who had taken Sarah in nodded in agreement. "That's a good idea, Alex. But we need to be careful. We don't want to start a war that we can't win."Sarah listened intently, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. She had noticed one of their members, a man she didn't know very well, acting suspiciously. He kept glancing around nervously as if he was afraid of being caught.Suddenly, the man caught Sarah's gaze and immediately got up and ran away."Hey, wait!"Sarah called out, j
The next morning, Sarah grunted softly as she tossed around the bed. She slowly opened her eyes and she sat up, wiping her blurry and sleepy eyes with the back of her palms. Her eyes fell outside the window, at the bright, shiny sun that lit up the world. “It's such a beautiful day today.” She gasped softly. Before she could think of anything else, the door crept opened and the woman who had taken her in walked in. She goes by the name Sophie. She sat beside her on the bed, one of her hand on her knees, caressing it softly.“Good morning, Sophie.” Sarah said with a lit smile that played on her lips.“I hope you slept well?”“Sure, and you?”“I haven't felt this great in a long time. It's such a relief that you decided to join us.” Sophie smiled, which Sarah also returned. “I'll go make your breakfast. You should be down in ten minutes.” Sophie said on her way out of the room. “Okay, I'll be out soon.” Sarah called out.A smile played on Sarah's lips as she watched Sophie retreat fr
Alex's POV.I anxiously approached Sarah's house, clutching a map in my hand; encouraged by Sarah's threat yesterday, I made some research overnight. The sun was setting, casting an amber glow over the surrounding woods. I rang the doorbell, and Sarah opened the door with a warm smile, which surprised me as I was expecting to see the opposite. “Hey, Alex! I've been waiting for you,” Sarah greeted, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “Ready for our adventure?” A grin played on her lips. I nodded, my heart pounding with anticipation. “Absolutely. I've marked the areas on the map where other werewolf sightings have been reported. We need to find out if there are other packs like us out there.” I tried to keep my voice firm. Sarah, still at the door, took the map from me. She studied the map intently, tracing her finger along the highlighted regions. “This is fascinating. It's like we're on a mission to uncover our own kind.” She said with a lively voice that didn't last the next sec
Sarah's POV.Alex squeezed out the juice from the wolfsbane and forces the man to take it.“You're going to regret this.” He shouted at Alex for making him take the portion.“I would be more than happy to get that.” Alex grinned. He stapled the werewolf on his back and we headed home. After some minutes of walking, we were in the middle of the pack and at Sophie's house. Alex dropped the man on the ground as he grunted and cracked his limbs from the man's heavy weight. Before I could say anything, the man interrupted me. “Antidote! The antidote.” He winced. “I'll only give you the antidote when you tell me what I need to know.” I snapped and walked into the house, followed by Alex. We met Mrs. Sophie taking a nap on the couch, I leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on her cheek and she opened her eyes. “You're back?” She grunted as she sat up. “Yeah, and we got a member of another pack, he seems to be working with Marcus.” I said, and her face got lit with excitement. “Where is
Sarah's POV.He passed out before he could complete his sentence.“What's wrong with him? He's not dead, is he?” I asked as I walked away from him and hid the gun.Mrs. Sophie rushed to him, shake him so hard but he stood still, and she glared at me. “Happy now?”“Is he really dead?” Alex asked with his voice clouded with curiosity. “I don't think so.” I responded and walked to him. Punched him hard across the face, and he jolted back to life, “See?” I smiled. “We should treat him now, or he's really going to die.” Mrs. Sophia suggested, and I had no choice at this point but to accept it. “Fine! Go ahead.” I raised my hands in surrender and moved away from the man. Mrs. Sophie grabbed a lighter, lit it and put it on his wound. The man growled aloud, shaking the pillars of the basement. “Does she necessarily have to do that?” I whispered to Alex, but she heard me. “You have any other way to cure this?” She tilted her head. Soon, she was done, and the man was already looking be
Marcus's POV.Soon, it was evening and the clock struck 7pm. I walked out of my room and walked down to the office, which also served as our conference room. When I got there, I was almost surprised to see everyone present already, but this is Sandro we are talking about. Nobody would want a hurt to come close to him.He had sworn his allegiance to the Pack and had been faithful all this while.I sat in the armchair and my eyes darted frantically from one person to the other before I decided to break the silence after some seconds.“I believe we've all heard about the news; that Sandro is missing.....” A member butted in.“Is this Alex's doing? Why would he have Sandro kidnapped?”“I know, but can you please let me talk? Please?”“Sorry.” She mumbled under her nose.I rolled my eyes briefly and continued 2hat I was saying, “We have to save Sandro before they do something bad to him.” I added and took a break.“They? Who are they? I thought Alex was our only enemy?”“Well, another enem
Alex's POV.It was late at night, I had been trying to sleep, but it wasn't coming forth. I crawled out of the bedsheets, wore my slip on, and dragged my heavy feet to the table by the window.Sitting on the chair and looking out the window, I recalled how this place used to be a secret place for Beth and I to meet. We had the best of memories in here, which is a more reason why I had decided not to leave this house.Suddenly, my mind went to Sarah.“I hope she's doing fine. She's really a tough one and won't even admit it when she's weak.” I mumbled under my breath.“I wished I had killed Marcus when I had the chance to, I shouldn't have banished him from the Pack; I should have robbed him the right to live.” I cussed in my thoughts as my hand clenched in a fist.“If I had killed him, none of this would be happening. He won't have killed Beth or tried to take over the Pack like he's trying to do now.”Memories of when he kidnapped Beth flooded my head. It was on a sunny day, the day
