Alex's POV

“Dead? What do you mean dead? What audacity do you have to interrupt my meeting and claim that someone is dead?” Sarah raged, but I kept my gaze fixed on Mrs. Elise.

“She was not the only one found dead.” I started, ignoring Sarah's questions. “Marcus too is dead.” I raised the piece of cloth for them to see.

My gaze darting from one person to another, fell on Eloise; my heart skipped a beat as our eyes locked, and I stood transfixed.

“What is she doing here?” I thought, and she smiled at me, but I ignored it.

Mrs. Elise fell to the floor as tears streamed down her cheeks.

“Mrs Sophie, you should take care of her.” Sarah said and turned to the members. “The meeting is dissolved.”

She turned and made to retreat into her room. I noticed the gloomy look on her face, and it breaks me to see her this way, but this is what I must do.

“Were you really holding a meeting behind me?” I queried her and she altered her next step.
