57. Rose scents

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Kendrick asked in a soft yet husky tone as he found her sitting and looking at his red rose garden in total astonishment. His soft tone was sounding very foreign to his own ears but he didn't put much thought into it.

"Very." She replied while caressing the roses softly without removing her eyes from the beautiful roses. Her tone and posture was calm, so different from what it was a few minutes ago. As if the red roses did its magic on her as well and calmed her down like it works on Kendrick. "Why is this part of the garden forbidden?" She suddenly asked, breaking the silence. She didn't look up yet but his next set of words forced her to look up at him with widened eyes.

"Because of you." He answered while looking at her intensely as if waiting for her to look up and meet his eyes.
