64. Her connection

"Grandma? Grandma, are you there?" Jackson's voice trembled in irritation which he tried to hide so hard as he tentatively knocked on the door of the darkest room in his mansion. This room gave him an inexplicable sense of dread, and every fiber of his being screamed at him to turn away. He didn't want to come here, but his father's stern words had forced him into this nerve-wracking encounter.

"Grandma?!" The desperation in his voice grew as he received no response after what felt like an eternity. He pounded on the door with increasing urgency, hoping against hope for any sign of life from within.

"I am here, you stupid werewolf! Don't shout!" A shrill, grating voice pierced through the heavy wooden door, making Jackson's skin crawl with unease. He rolled his eyes, trying to muster the strength to face the inevitable discomfort that lay beyond the door.
