Chapter Seven

Lyra wandered through the dimly lit corridors of Arthur's manor, the soft patter of her footsteps echoing against the cold stone walls. The flickering torches cast eerie shadows that danced like specters in the darkness, their outstretched arms reaching for her as she passed by. Her heart pounded in her chest, an uneasy feeling gnawing at her insides, urging her to flee. But something stronger beckoned her forward – a burning need to uncover the truth.

"Arthur?" She called out hesitantly, her voice barely more than a whisper. No reply came; only the eerie silence seemed to mock her uncertainty. Her emerald eyes flitted from door to door as she searched for him, her lover and confidant. As she approached his study, the muffled sound of Arthur's voice drifted through the thick wooden door, laced with a chilling undertone that sent shivers down Lyra's spine.
