Chapter 04 Running away

Before he could even say a single word, Alessandra turned around and ran as fast as she could. Ales didn't want to hear what he had to say because she was scared to the bones.

It was hard to hear him reject her in front of the king and everyone who was watching her with grave eyes. Ales knew Ace wouldn't ignore his father's words.

"It happened again."Amelia groaned in agony as she took over because Ales's legs couldn't take it anymore.

She trusted Amelia to carry them whenever she wanted, as long as they don't go back running to her mate.

That was what happens whenever Ales's heart breaks into tiny pieces, run away. It reminded her of two weeks ago when she ran away from the pack when Leo found his destined mate.

Ales couldn't believe she was running away from her mate yet again because She was afraid of rejection. What pained her the most was that Ace and his people were the reason why she didn't have a father.

Why were they so mad when they were the reason why her mother cried each time she looked at her husband's pictures?

They should be the ones apologising. They needed to be sorry for the pain they caused Ales to go through while growing.

Ales's heart twisted each time she watched her fellow kids playing with their fathers who loved them more than so much.

"You're such a liar!"Amelia groaned.

Ace had promised Ales that he didn't care if his father and the entire kingdom would like her or not. He promised to be on her side no matter what happened.

Why didn't he run after Ales? Why did he let go of her hand when he heard that she was just a mere werewolf?

Ace was supposed to hold Ales's hand tightly and stand by my her when his father humiliated her. However, he let go of Ales's hand which was the exact opposite of what he had assured her hours ago.

"You will scare people, Amelia."Alessandra told her wolf when she heard people talking from a distance. She didn't want anyone to see her in her wolf state because most of them were human.

Ales's wolf obeyed and she shifted back to her human form. Alessandra turned her head momentarily to look back, hoping that she would see Ace following her behind.

However, it was a wishful thinking. Ales emerged from the forest and walked to the bus stop with teary eyes.

Why was the world so cruel to her? What did she do to deserve all that? Alessandra couldn't stop asking herself questions that had no answers.

Did the moon goddess hate her so much to an extent that she decided that Ales would never be happy in her entire life?

Alessandra stopped in her tracks and closed her eyes tightly because her vision was becoming blurry with each thought that crossed her mind. Her hand found its way to her face and She wiped tears which couldn't stop flowing.

"Enough with all the crying silly girls."Ales scolded herself because she was so angry.

Alessandra closed her eyes, took a deep breath then walked to the bus station.

The cloud was turning black as the night was approaching. Ales checked her purse and realised that she had some money which could take her whenever she wanted to go.

The bus arrived after five minutes of waiting and Alessandra boarded without second thoughts. She wanted to go very far away where nobody knew her name or anything about her.

Alessandra looked out of the window blankly with swollen eyes as many questions crossed her mind.

Ales's mind jolted back to the present when her cell phone vibrated.

"Monalisa."She mumbled under her breath when she checked the caller ID. Even though Ales wasn't around Lisa, She could tell that she was calling with a smile on her features.

Alessandra could tell that Monalisa was calling to ask if she had arrived at her mate's home safe and sound. Monalisa was expecting to hear some good news from me.

For some reason, Alessandra was disappointed because she thought that it was Alexander calling. She closed her eyes and a frustrating sigh escaped her lips.

Lisa wanted to tease her a little and tell Alessandra how much she'd missed her. However, the happiness that Monalisa was expecting to hear from Ales's voice was long gone and now it was replaced with sadness and pain.

"You're cursed." Alessandra closed her eyes and tears flowed from her eyes when the thoughts crossed her mind.

How was Ales supposed to explain to Monalisa that she hasn't called her yet because everything was a mess? All she could do was watch the phone as it rang over and over again.

Ales's heart pounded wildly when the bus stopped after eight hours of travelling. She looked at the time and realised that it was in the middle of the night.

Alessandra alighted the bus and heaved a long exhausted sigh. The surrounding was lit dimly by the moonlight.Despite Ales loving the the moon so much, she didn't dare to raise her head because she was so mad at the moon goddess.

Alessandra turned around and looked at the bushy road. It had not changed even a little bit though it had been years since the last time she visited the place.

The trees had grown taller and they looked so beautiful when the silver glow from the moon shone on Alessandra took a deep breath and then followed the familiar road.

Her eyes welled up when she walked through the old, black iron gate. The familiar smell of strong coffee and flowers filled her nostrils which made a single tear to drop from her eyes.

Alessandra raised her head and saw the old mansion which radiated calmness and wisdom, she bit her lower lips to stop the sobs from escaping her lips.

Faint light penetrated through the mansion's glass window which made it to look more captivating despite it's old age.

"It's going to be fine. We're going to find the peace that we're looking for."Amelia said with a sad voice.
