Her mood changed almost immediately after she heard that question. I wouldn't blame her, there is only pain and heartbreak left for her in that place. That wasn't the initial question I wanted to ask but it just popped suddenly in my head and I pushed it out without thinking twice.

The kitchen was quiet and I took that time to plead with her and also tell her about the current state of her foster mum. She gripped the clothes on her chest tightly as the tears were trying to force their way out. If she could hold her heart in her hand, she would. The only thing I could make out of her words was that she was taking all the blame. In the actual sense, I was the one that derailed her life journey.
