I woke up in the morning, and Jennifer was gone. She must have left early to freshen up before returning to the pack house. I yawned, stretching my arms straight to the ceiling as I sat up. I shuffled with squinted eyes to the bathroom to freshen up. When I returned to the room, I found a note on the vanity table. It was from Jennifer.

Hi, Muriel. I had to freshen up before returning to the pack house. I brought you breakfast already. It’s on the dining table. If Russell returns, tell him he is terribly handsome.
