Meanwhile, in a distant land lies Russell, black and unconscious. A beautiful, young lady came along playfully to a well side when she saw him. She cowered back, having almost stepped on him. She gradually took a step forward, looking around to see if anyone was watching. She stooped and touched his leg, jerking away her hand in fear.

“Oh, dear God, what is all this?” she lamented. “He is still breathing, he must be alive,” she convinced herself and touched his leg again. She watched him move a finger and she gasped. “What do I do? What should I do? Mother!” she cried, tapping her forehead. She ran back home. Returning with her brother, they helped Russell to their house, a small bungalow on a field. They lay him down in the guest room and an elderly woman, their mother began treating him with herbs.

“Where did you find him, Ruby?” the elderly woman asked the lady.
