Ruby brought food for Russell and sat with him while he ate. She stamped her feet constantly on the floor, biting her lower lip and clutching her dress under the table.

“Are you fine?” Russell asked. She feigned a smile. Russell focused and continued eating.

“Ahem! Um, please, who are you?” she asked.

“I don’t know, I don’t think I remember anything,” he lied.

“Huh? Do you remember nothing? Not even your name?” she queried curiously.

“No, Miss, I remember nothing,” he stopped eating, looking sad. “I thought you were my family. You don’t know me?”

“No, uh, I mean, yes, I found you at the well side, lying halfdead. It’s a pity you don’t remember anything, not even what happened to you?” she stated and sighed. “Anyway, you will be fine. We are your family now, okay?” she instinctively placed her hand on his.

“We?” Russell repeated, confused.

“Oh, yes, my mom and brother, they went out, they will be back soon.”
