Chapter 61

~Mateo~

It was night already and I was still staring at my bed. The sound of wind entering the room from the window attracted my attention. It was unusual. It felt like I was hearing voices in place of the wind sound. I stood up, shuffling to the window. “Mateo!” I heard my name. I gasped, whirling to look behind me. My heart was going to burst with the way it was pounding. It felt a snow was dropping on my skin. I felt cold and spooked. I summoned the courage to continue to the window and close it. I neared it, carefully lifting my hands to the curtains. The moment I held the curtains to close it, the face of Rusair loomed over my face. “Argh…!” I was forced to scream, cowering back from the window. I was shivering.

“Mateo?!” a hand came on my shoulder and my heart flew out of me.

“Please, don’t kill me, please,” I begged.

“What happened, Mateo?” Emery asked, appearing in my front. I shifted away from her. “I heard you scream. What is it?”
