CHAPTER 21

Sonia's POV

The moment I realised Michael's demeanour had shifted from sweet to sour, I thought at first it was all in my head. But it wasn't, his eyes, once filled with warmth when gazing at me, now held a frost that seemed to freeze the very air between us.

He had lied to me after all.

I sought refuge in the hot anger that swept me. Anger was better than the hurt and disappointment that had filled me for the past few weeks. I turned to Michael who had been standing there, looking at me like I was mad for even being angry.

"Why are you doing this, Michael?" I demanded. I did not give myself the time to think, I was so consumed with my own emotions for logic.

"You're a prisoner, Sonia," he stated coldly, his voice devoid of any emotion we once shared as childhood friends.

"A prisoner? But why?" I stammered, my voice was already cracking under the strain of confusion and hurt. "We grew up together! Does that not mean anything to you now?"

"No it doesn't, you're my prisoner."
