Chapter 8: First calculation.

Adela's nap lasted three hours. When she woke up, it was time for afternoon tea. The maid brought a pot of chrysanthemum tea and a plate of chocolate cake to the room. Adela comfortably felt the peaceful moments pass. She enjoyed afternoon tea while letting her maid help her dress, brush her hair, and put on makeup.

"Wait, I think we need a simpler, more laid-back outfit tonight, Emily." Adela looked at Emily who was busy choosing clothes and said.

"What? Do you want a simple outfit?" Emily was surprised, she rolled her eyes at Adela and asked.

"That's right! We should only dress well in front of important people and important things. And tonight's dinner, do you think is important to me?" Adela steps forward, she takes down a white shirt and a pair of brown jeans. Add a thin silver necklace with a pendant sculpted in the shape of a mermaid. Finally, a pair of heels just five inches.

"Master, do you really want to dress like this to go out to dinner?" Emily looked at Adela suspiciously.

"Why not? With a special position appearing all over the newspapers like Emily's owner, it's better to go out in plain clothes. The press is looking forward to having my latest picture on a special date separate from the opposite sex." Adela took down the outfit she had personally taken down. She said as she entered the changing room.

Emily looked at Adela with a bewildered expression. This was the first time Emily saw her mistress prefer to dress simply to go out to dinner.

When Adela came out, she was dressed in elegant and polite clothes. Long, loose hair is curled straight. The aura at this time shows that she has become a successful and beautiful girl.

"Emily, when that person comes, let me know right away!" Before Emily went out, Adela instructed.

"Yes! My master." Emily replied and left.

Adela sat down on the sofa again, holding her phone and scrolling through dozens of websites. She ate cake, drank tea, and read the newspaper for a long time...for a long time.

Until outside came a knock on the door.

"Come in."

"Master, that person has already arrived. The car is waiting for the owner at the castle gate, do we need to open the gate to welcome him?" Emily listened to Adela's instructions and immediately came to inform.

"Oh, sooner than I thought. I know, get out." Adela glanced at the clock on the wall and said casually. Doesn't seem very surprising.

"So that person..." Emily hesitated before leaving.

"Let that person wait outside, I have some work to do." Adela ate a piece of cake and answered superficially.

"Yes! My master." Emily didn't continue talking, she left behind the closed door.

Adela holds the phone in her hand without getting bored. She drank tea and ate cake in a very normal mood. There's no rush at all.

"Brian's here, won't you go with him, Adela?" Max asked Adela.

"What's the hurry? Waiting for a woman is something a man should be able to do. For Brian, it's a trivial matter. If he loses his patience then he will lose his yellow card to avenge my family. That's all!" Adela shrugged in response to Max.

"You're gradually making Brian Matthew a more patient person, Adela. Pursuing Adela William is a test of patience. You're trying to control him, aren't you? Not a bad start to the mission. Good luck." Max heard Adela and immediately understood what she meant. He stopped asking questions, appreciating the way Adela did a few sentences.

Meanwhile, a very ordinary black BMW stopped in front of the gate of the Earl's castle. There was only one driver and Brian Matthew in the car. The driver waited for a long time, then unconsciously yawned. Brian Matthew raised his hand to check his watch, his thick fur furrowed.

"Viscount, we've been waiting for Lady Adela William for almost three hours." The driver rubbed his eyes and then spoke to Brian.

Of course, Brian knows! He had been in the car waiting for Adela for almost three hours. Starting at five o'clock in the afternoon after afternoon tea until eight o'clock in the evening. Still haven't seen Adela come out by phone appointment this morning. He wasn't sure if Adela had forgotten or if she had intentionally kept him waiting. Many times he lost his patience, he took the phone and intended to call Adela to ask her about dinner tonight. But he is not allowed to do that. Pushing a girl on a first date is a no-no. It's impolite and unfriendly. Brian needs to shake Adela, she is the key card in his fight in the future.

Thinking and thinking, Brian finally looked at the driver in the rearview mirror and said, "Wait."

As he finished his words, the great gate of the Earl William family's house opened. From the inside, pale yellow neon lights illuminate the entire way from the mansion to the grand gate. Adela stepped out of that light in elegant clothes, a gentle smile on the corner of her lips.

Brian quickly got out of the car, and greeted her with a relaxed and elegant face.

"It's been a long time since I've kept you waiting, hasn't it? Sorry, my family has a habit of talking for a few hours after afternoon tea. I forgot about it when I was on the phone with you." Adela made an apologetic face and said before she got into the car.

"It's okay, it's my honor that Adela accepts my sudden invitation like this. What's wrong with waiting a little bit?" Brian helped Adela open the car door and let her sit in the car before taking a seat next to her.

The car quickly started up and left as quickly as a large fish swimming into the wide black sea in the dark.

The two went to a luxury restaurant next to a floor-to-ceiling window. The location Brian chose to stay was on a high floor, with a room for just two people, and an on-demand guitar band. Looks like Brian has already covered this deluxe room. Adela is no stranger to how a rich person spends money. She sat down at the table and began to look around the room with innocent eyes. Beautifully decorated, vintage style, and an atmosphere that smells of 1975 red wine. The band is melodious with old 80s music. Adela loves the classic and light atmosphere like this. It seems more refined and a luxuriously lit but empty room.

"You really like this arrangement, don't you, Miss Adela?" Brian sat opposite after watching Adela for a moment before speaking.

"Ah, yes, I really like this layout. My room at home is also arranged in the same classical style." Adela smiled and replied.

"Ah, so this is what makes Miss Adela such an elegant and gentle lady." Brian exclaims half-truth, half-joking.

This time, Adela just smiled without speaking.

The atmosphere was only soft music. Adela was relaxing looking out the window, her mind absentmindedly hanging from a tree branch. Brian had left somewhere, but Adela did not know when he came back and suddenly in front of Adela's eyes appeared a bouquet of extremely fresh and beautiful sunflowers. She looked at the bouquet in surprise before her eyes and under Brian's urging gaze, Adela accepted it.

"Congratulations, Adela! Congratulations on becoming a shareholder of House William. Should I call you Lord Earl Adela?" Brian sat down across from him and laughed.

Well, turns out this is why he gave Adela flowers.

"Mr. Viscount, you're exaggerating. I've only just become a businessman and I still don't fully understand this world. My journey to becoming a successor is still far. And moreover, my successor is not yet fully understood. It'll probably be me." Adela put the bouquet on the table, she looked at it as she spoke.

"What a humble person you are, Adela. Oh yeah, I have a present for you." Brian shook his head and smiled at Adela's answer. He seemed to remember something important and then he raised his hand and called out to one of his subordinates.

The subordinate stepped forward, understood Brian's point, and handed Brian a neat file.

Brian took the files and pushed them towards Adela, who just smiled and said nothing about the files.

Adela did not understand what he wanted to do, she still made a bewildered face accepted the file, and opened it.

Oh...isn't this a bidding project for the construction of the Setrie capital international trade center? This project is being bid by the William family and the Matthew family. This time is still a time of intense competition between the two. In the bidding session that is set to take place in the next two days, Adela is the one who will execute the plan to win this project. So confronting Brian is inevitable. Adela recently thought about how to deal with Brian in this project. Well, he seems to have given that project to her! He... it took a lot of effort to take advantage of Adela!

"Adela, how do you feel about this gift?" Brian holds a glass of red wine in his hand, he gently shakes it and brings it to his mouth to take a sip. His attitude when he gave her this important project brochure and his attitude right now...was no joke.

"Does this mean you've given up on this tender project, Brian? You want to give this project to me?" Adela was skeptical.
