Mehr was so lost in her thoughts to even notice that Afnaan and her squad members were talking about her birthday and gifts. They were teasing her but she'll just smile cos her mind wasn't there at all so Afnaan nudged her.
"Come with me," Afnaan ordered before walking out of the cafeteria to the long school hallway. In slow strides waiting for Mehr to catch up with her but Mehr was still walking slowly like something was holding her with every step she took.
"What's wrong chips?" she asked again but Mehr was just looking at the space behind Afnaan as if something will come out from the hallway.
"Tell me Mehr!" Afnaan said sternly and knowing Afnaan, when she call Mehr by her name, then things must be serious.

When Mehr told Mashkur about Khaliq and what happened before he left, which is already two weeks now. He was so mad, jealous and possessive. He wanted to injure Khaliq, hit him squarely on his jaw and nose. Then he gets mad at her for hiding all these from him till when he get back."So you wouldn't have told me this if not because Afnaan has pressured you and the Khaliq himself messaged you? Why will you hide this from me and your family? Finishing her third paper which was geography, Mehr hurriedly sauntered into Mallam Audu's car telling him to hurry up and take her home, which he did with just a nod. Something must be serious since Mehr herself was impatient, for she isn't someone who's impatient, but Kydah.They drove back silently to the Maliks' Mansion in silence, which was so unlike Mehr to Mallam Audu. But instead of him to talk or start a conversation, he kept quite. Today is Mehr's graduation. They've finished their exams a month ago and they're celebrating it today at their school with the rest of the students.Mehr was dressed in a black pants and white shirt, which was the colour code for the graduation- black and white. The whole week was so exhausting to Mehr. She couldn't sit down for an hour, she'd be called from Maa or Kydah's friends and it was annoying her. She doesn't even have time to talk to Mashkur talk less of seeing him, which was more than annoying. Its not like she doesn't want to help, but its getting too much.So now, she locked the door to Paa's living room with Afnaan by her side. Mehr was talking to Mashkur for more than an hour, whilst Afnaan was bored out if her mind. Afnaan was driving aimlessly in the road with no destination nor any idea about where she's going to. She keeps on muttering some unknown words to her mind and her head was full with so many memories that keeps triggering in her head.Suddenly, she felt the car tumbling on the road, her hands tightly holding the steering wheel like her life depend on it which it did at the moment. Her head was turned upside down, she wasn't feeling anything but the pain in her head was very bad. The awaited day was finally here, well, none of them were happy about this day nor the knot that has already been tied a few minutes ago. Kydah hasn't stopped bawling her eyes out.Mehr was still heartbroken, that her best friend didn't forgive her and she's even at the wedding, they talked but not like they do before which was really eating up Mehr.She apologized countless of times but Afnaan will just brush it off or change the topic when there's someone next to them and when they're alone, shed stand up and leave.Kydah and her friends who only knew the truth, try to set them alone so that they could talk it out, but Afnaan is really proving them wrong. Mehr and Afnaan finally patch up and stitch their problem. And now, Mashkur was ready to come and talk to Mehr's father about the marriage which was advised by Mehr herself. She already told everyone excluding Paa.Anxiously sitting on the bed, Mehr kept glancing at the window from their room where she could see the gate and whoever came in or out.Its a beautiful Firday, Paa and Amdaad went to the mosque to pray the Friday prayer in the mosque which happens always. She was waiting for them to come back so that she could call Mashkur to come.Her heart was not at ease knowing fully well that Paa is not in the least interested of her getting married at the age of twenty but now, at eighteen, she's already ready for commitment. Mehr was beyond shattered when she heard that her Paa disapproved Mashkur. She cried her eyes and face to sleep. When she woke up, time for dinner, she felt like she was beaten black and blue.She walked to the dining table and her head was down through out the dinner even though her father tried to talk to her.She walk back to her room annoyed. Is that how her sister felt when her father arranged her marriage? That's bad even though its different.Maa knocked on her door but she didn't bother looking up or saying come in and Maa invited herself in."You need to stop crying and stop brooding.
