Adrian sat on a chair in his room, writing down some stuff on paper. Trevor had told him how his grandfather was killed. Adrian did not let Phoebe sleep alone; she slept in his room, and he watched over her. Whoever that person was, it was sure that they had something against the alphas too. Or was he only after the girl and wanted the search team to be quick with it? Adrian dropped the sheet as soon as he was done writing the names of people who were clearly suspects. His father had been told about the thing going on and had told him not to worry too much. The person was going to be caught; they could not hide behind doors forever. Ashford closed the door as soon as Adrian and Phoebe stepped inside. He held a box in his hand—the same box Phoebe had dropped earlier. Adrian helped Phoebe to a chair and tried to comfort her; she was breathing heavily, and tears threatened to fall. Her hands were trembling more than he had expected. His sister was terrified. Luna bent over Phoebe and held her hand. "Don’t worry, Phoebe. Nothing will happen to you." Phoebe slowly nodded in approval of what Luna had said, then she glanced around. "I lost the gift I brought for you; I can’t believe I lost it after spending hours on it. I'm so sorry, Luna." Ashford, who was standing nearby, handed the box to her. Phoebe flashed him a smile. Although she was trying to hide her fear behind that smile, he could see it cracking. She was just trying to appear strong. Ashford's brows furrowed; that man had done a lot lately. She stared at him innocently, as if nothing had happened. She wondered what he wanted to say to her. Was he going to scold her for still speaking with Ashford, whom he believed to be her ex-lover? She also wondered about his reaction when he discovered that she was mated to both of them. Ashford hadn't reacted much and had allowed her to do as she pleased, but he had made it clear that she couldn't reject him. Even though she had tried, he was determined not to let her go. She had never liked Adrian from the start because of the way her father had spoken about him, always saying good things about him and wishing he was her mate—which, as it turned out, he was. When Luna walked into the kitchen, all eyes turned to her. Phoebe was putting on an apron and helping Neon hold something. Phoebe was grinning from ear to ear as she spoke nonstop to him. “Why are you on her bed?” Adrian repeated for the fifteenth time. “I can’t hear you.” Ashford said. “And who are you to tell me where to stay? This room belongs to me too, do you understand me?” Adrian frown grew wide. “You can’t stay on her bed and expect me not to complain about it, there are a lot of rooms for you to stay but you chose this one.” “That is because I should be getting married to her if only you didn’t show up. Ashford flashed a smile at the man in front of him. Adrian was still pinning him down to the ground; his eyes were getting dark, and every word he spoke came out as a growl. "You come from the Lust Mind Pack and have the right to stand in this house." Luna gulped down nothing in particular. Was there anything wrong with the pack's mind? She hoped she had not ruined her chances by saying Ashford was from that pack. What pack was that, anyway? Were they enemies of Lunar Crest? Her thoughts kept going wide until she could not bear the silence anymore. "What is wrong if he is from the Lust Mind Pack?" Luna asked. Adrian glanced at Luna. "You don't know? You don't know anything about the pack; are you even a werewolf?" Ashford's eyes darkened. "That is it! You can talk to me anyhow, but not to her.
