I stare at my signature for a transient second and another tear rolls down my other cheek, but I quickly wipe it away with my thumb and glance at Matt.
He is standing a few meters away, and he has his hands tossed inside his pockets, his eyes entirely on me.
"Give me the check, I am running late." I can literally feel the agony in my voice.
He walks towards me, stopping one step away and I slide the signed document towards him.
He takes it, and I watch impatiently as he flips through.
"Signed, signed, signed." He says with a pleased expression on his face, and he puts the document inside a brown envelope.
"Give me the damn check, Matthew," I say impatiently and he turns towards me with a raised eyebrow.
"What check? And can you not call me Matthew again?"
