Seeing Connor in my worst situation made me feel relieved and secure. After we found the twins, sleeping in another room, we rushed them to the hospital.

A sigh of relief escaped from me as I leaned on the wall, staring at the twins on the bed, which was now out of danger.

I'm glad they are not injured.

Police came in to question me and Connor about the abduction. I only said what I saw and heard. It was Candice and a man who was her accomplice. Or maybe Candice is the accomplice and the man was the mastermind.

But why would they interrogate Connor, too? Is he not the one who called the police?

As I was still in confusion, the door opened. Connor strides inside the room with weary eyes. He looked with a heavy shoulder as if he had just grasped the situation.

“Why are you in there?” I greeted him with a question.
