MY MATE, MY PROTECTOR CHAPTER ONEEstelle's POV Running, fighting, surviving, hiding… violence. That's all my life has been about ever since my pack was invaded and ended. I had nothing left. I was lying in a large bed, and the pillow beneath my head was soft and plush. I blinked my eyes a few times, trying to clear my vision. The room was bright and airy, with sunlight streaming through the windows. It smelled of flowers and fresh linen. Slowly, the environment came into focus, and I realised where I was, in a strange bedroom, not in a dirty abandoned hut, not by the Riverside, not beside tree roots, but I was on a comfortable bed in a nice room. I tried to sit but the pain in my head shot through sharply and I winced. I adjusted myself against the headboard and tried to remember how I got here.
