Chapter 6

Emma parted the hug with Roland, lowered herself, and wrapped her hands around her kids. It had only been a few hours apart, but she missed her kids already.

“Don't hug mummy too tight, you're going to squeeze too much love out of her,” Roland remarked with a smile as he watched the kids hugging their mother.

Alden didn't overdo it. He simply hugged his mother once and stepped aside, but his other siblings refused to let their mother go.

“We missed you, mummy,” Emerald said, in her sweet and soft voice.

“I missed you so much, my babies.” Emma chuckled and pecked their cheeks.

They were the best blessings that she could ever be given, what would she have done without them?

“That's enough for now, let your mommy enter the car, she must be tired from work.” Roland intervened and took the kids from her.

“How did it go?” Roland asked with a handsome smile.

“Great, my first day wasn't so bad.” Emma grinned.

She might have seen Elizabeth, who almost ruined her mood, but apart from that, everyone treated her well even the owner of the company wasn't an exception. They were all well-mannered and welcoming towards her, she would certainly spend a long time in the company.

“I'm glad about that. Let's get into the car, everyone,” Roland said and opened the car door.

The children entered the back seats, while Roland went to the other side of the car and opened the door for Emma. Emma sauntered over to him and thanked him before entering the car.

“Kids, wear your seat belts,” Emma instructed as she wore hers.

The kids obeyed their mother and wore their seat belts without any complaint. Roland entered the car and started it. The engine roared to life, and he pressed his foot on the accelerator, driving off.

“The employees at the company were quite nice to me, I expected some hostility stemming from jealousy or something of that sort, but instead, they were so good, and they treated me like a queen.” A broader smile appeared on Emma's lips as she spoke.

“They are lucky for not doing otherwise because anyone who hurts my mommy will get it from me,” Aziel said, frowning his little lips.

“Aww, that's so nice of you to say, but there's no need to resort to violence. Sometimes a conversation can do the trick.” Emma said before chuckling.

“He's right, I would have gone there in your defense and showed them that you aren't someone to be trifled with. You have three bodyguards here.” Roland said, cheerfully, before glancing at the beautiful woman beside him.

“It's supposed to be four, but he's not here,” Emerald said and pursed her lips sadly.

Emma looked at her daughter and her heart sank, she knew that she was talking about her father. It made Emma's heartache that she had no idea about him.

Emerald had always asked about her father, and though Roland had always been there as a father figure, she still missed someone whom she knew nothing about.

“Emerald, Uncle Roland is here for Mommy, and we are here too, we don't need an extra person.” Alden intervened.

Emma smiled at her son, he was a little, but he always spoke maturely.

“Your brother is right, you all are enough for me.” She giggled and reached her daughter's knee.

Emerald smiled, their words made her forget about the absence of her father.

“Is that all that happened at the office?” Roland inquired and glanced at her.

“No, I gave an idea that was opposed by someone, but the rest of the employees loved it, " Emma replied and brought out a lip wipe from her bag.

She cleaned off her lipstick and threw the lip wipe in the little trash can.

“Who opposed your idea?” Roland's face was etched with a little frown. Emma smirked,

“Take a guess.”

Roland thought for a while and guessed that it was Liam, but Emma shook her head.

“No, he treated me well. The person who opposed my idea was Elizabeth, I never expected to see her so soon.” She said, disgusted by just saying her name.

Roland gasped in shock, his eyes widened as he looked from the road to her.

“Elizabeth? How is she working there? That's quite surprising.” Roland huffed.

“Yeah, I was stunned for a second or two when I beheld her, but then, I pretended like she didn't even exist. I'm sure that her ego was hurt by my actions.” Emma laughed. Roland laughed as well.

“She doesn't deserve any recognition, not after everything she did to you. How can someone be so cruel to another person, especially someone from one's family?”

“That's because she's a hateful bitch.” Aziel blurted out.

His mother gasped and turned to him, her eyes bulging as she heard the foul language he used.

“Where did you hear that from?” She gasped, staring at her boy, flabbergasted.

“I don't know, I just heard it from somewhere.” He shrugged his hands.

Emma warned him not to use that word again, and he nodded.

“I'm glad that you ignored her, she must have tried picking a fight with you, right?” Asked Roland before he turned the steering wheel.

“Yes, she tried degrading me in front of people, but I outsmarted her and showed her that I wasn't that naive Emma, she knew in the past. I wouldn't fall for her dumb tricks.” Emma smirked. “I will continue acting like she's not related to me, anyway, she had become a stranger from the day she betrayed me.”

“Right decision. How about we go get some ice cream for these little wins of mommy?” Roland proposed.

“Yes! Ice-cream!!” Emerald giggled and clapped her hands excitedly.

The boys agreed, and Emma didn't oppose.

They drove to an ice cream shop and went to have some ice cream. They chose different flavors and laughed happily like a family.

It was unknown to them that someone was spying on them; spying for terrible reasons.
