Chapter 56

Maeve POV

I walked down the hallway, dressed in all-black attire. I was wearing a leather jumpsuit that covered all my body up to my neck, a black leather belt wrapped around my waist with my sword hanging inside, and then I wore a black coat over it with my hair packed in a tight bun. I know this looks intimidating, but that is the message I want to pass.

“Here, my lords,” the maids said, bowing shakingly as they pointed to the door. I opened it, entering the meeting room. This place is just as I remembered—not much difference. The ministers turned around, looking at me, and they were all as I remembered. I smiled widely.

“Oh, so nice to see you all again, ageing like fine wine,” I said, smiling really big. They looked at me as I found my way to the small throne. Their faces look white, like didn’t think I would ever come back alive. I look around the throne room. This throne room has been like this for years, and they have not made any renovations.
