“You're early today.”

Cara leaned her hip against the kitchen island as she crossed her arms, watching me.

“Yeah, I figured I'd drop by at the grocery store.” I answered while placing the bags full of groceries on the kitchen island table.

She raises a brow questioningly at me, urging me to explain why I was actually here rather than at work.

I sigh before speaking. “I got suspended for being tardy consecutively so I was sent home early today. I won't be working for a few days.”

I was sad about my suspension and it’s only a matter of time that Hudson would fire me. Good luck finding someone who could replace me. I endured his shit for a long time now. He stole a lot of my credits, my ideas. I couldn’t do anything about it because I was scared I’d lose my job. Still, it’s hard to find a company these days that actually pays well. I thought bitterly.
