Chapter 25

Johnson and Isagani were being kept in prison along with the new prisoners that the Japanese soldiers had captured. It has been more than a day since they last ate, and the water they are drinking is not clean at all.

After the ambush, the camp is in chaos, and the soldiers are targeting all the males aged 17 to 60 in this town. They said that this town is full of guerillas, and they see them as a significant threat. So many innocent men were implicated and tortured.

Even the rich people in this town were targeted. The Japanese soldiers happened to have someone wearing a bag made from woven dried leaves over his head and pointed at the men captured in this town. Once they were pointed out by this man, their fate was sealed even if they did not belong to the guerilla group.

"That man is despicable." Isagani whispered.

"How can he do it to his fellow countryman?" Johnson sounded confused.

"That kind of person is selfish. He only thinks of himself and disregards other people's lives
