Confused, I looked around. I was blinking once, twice, and then three times. Still, I struggled to wrap my head around time and place.

The room was dark, not pitch-black, but dark enough for humans to struggle. Blinking once again, slow and almost rolling my eyes, my eyelids forced themselves over my dry eyes.

Silver colored bars. I still saw the silver colored bars, I thought while scraping my mind for memories. But I’m not outside the gates anymore. The surface below me felt moist and cold against my cheek, but I also felt my clothes cling to my body where the moisture had soaked the fabric.

Hissing sounds were breathed out through my teeth when my stiff and aching body tried sitting up. Cold all the way into the bones, and my neck was throbbing. My hand quickly went up to my neck, and my eyes scanned the area around me as memories slowly took form. What the hell happened?
