Chapter 49 – Personal trainer

After they were done with training, Polly felt different. For the first time, she felt it was all for naught. She wanted . . . something else. She wanted their training to matter more. She wanted to be stronger. She bitterly smiled as she looked at Jared. What are the chances he would actually help? Maybe he’ll just belittle her again.

“Where do you want to train?”

“Near our place? There’s no reason to go somewhere else.”

Jared smiled at her use of the word “our” to refer to the house they’re living in. He’s glad that she’s owning it with him.

Polly side-eyed him as they walked home. Jared noticed her expression and was puzzled.

“Are you really going to help me train?”
